Chapter 308 Luke: "You are so beautiful."

Leo misunderstood her.

The only goal worth her all-out effort was to bring down the Miller family. Now that the Miller family had fallen, there was nothing in this world worth exchanging her love or marriage for.

She believed that with Luke, it wasn't entirely an exchange; at least the feelings she developed later were genuine.

However, she felt no need to explain.

Before Leo could lean in, she turned her head, causing his lips to miss, and lightly brushed her cheek and hair.

"Thanks for today. I'll find a chance to treat you to dinner," Elsa said, about to get out of the car and go back.

Leo grabbed Elsa's arm, "If you're going to treat me, make it today."

"I'm not in the mood."

With a face like this and it being so late, she just wanted to go home and sleep, to forget everything.

"Then accompany me to the races on Saturday as a thank you," Leo took the opportunity to make a request.

"Let's discuss it on Saturday," Elsa rubbed her temples, wanting to be alone for a while.

Luke watched Elsa's slender figure, feeling a dull pain in his chest.

He and Leo hadn't exchanged a single word the entire time, but their eyes had clashed countless times.

Men understand men better. Leo's interest in Elsa wasn't just because she was Luke's ex-wife. It seemed more like a convenient excuse that didn't reveal his true intentions.

Leo's attitude towards Elsa might have some pretense, but the way he looked at her, with that kind of heartache and protective instinct, couldn't be faked.

Luke felt defeated.

He wasn't sure what Elsa felt for Leo, but her attitude towards him was clear: if they were to break up, it should be clean, with no further entanglements.

Originally, he was determined to win, which is why he had secretly delayed her return to school. Who knew, that God had set one obstacle after another for him?

Perhaps he shouldn't be so obsessed and should let her go, giving her freedom.

Luke's mind was in turmoil, but his face remained cold: "Go home and face your punishment."

He said to the crying Jasmine beside him, then walked out of the police station.

On the way back, his phone rang.

"Luke, my friend saw Jasmine being hit at the mall. Is she okay?" Margaret asked.

"She's fine." Luke was in a bad mood, and his response to Margaret was somewhat absent-minded.

Margaret had Jasmine's contact information, but she called him out of concern, clearly not just for Jasmine.

"How have you been lately?" Sure enough, after a moment of hesitation, she asked.

"I'm fine."

"Good." Margaret didn't know what else to say and fell silent.

Luke drove with one hand and pulled out a cigarette with the other.

He turned another corner, and Margaret still hadn't hung up.

"Margaret, if you're free tomorrow night, let's have dinner together." Luke, thinking about Elsa and Leo's interaction, felt a surge of irritation and suddenly said.

The next evening, they met at a French restaurant.

Margaret wore a red dress, her long curly hair draped over one shoulder. She walked over in high heels, and for a moment, Luke was lost in thought.

It was the first time he saw Elsa like this, with long curly hair, wearing a red dress, sitting by the bed smoking, her eyes filled with calm sorrow.

To be fair, Margaret's looks were not inferior to Elsa's. Her features were even more delicate, her skin even more refined.

But compared to Elsa, she seemed to lack something.

"Luke!" Margaret tried to get his attention.

Luke snapped back to reality, "What did you say?"

"It's been a while. Have I gained weight recently?" Margaret extended her arm for Luke to see, "Look, it's all flesh."

Luke smiled, "You're beautiful."

Margaret's face turned red, and she looked at Luke with shy, watery eyes.

"It's been a while. I often wonder how you're doing, but I'm afraid of disturbing you. Luke, seeing you unhappy lately makes me more upset than anything."

"I've always had feelings for you."

Luke's mind was full of Elsa; he couldn't focus on Margaret's face at all.

But he had his reasons for inviting Margaret.

Margaret's confession received no response, so she slowly fell silent. The hope ignited by his compliment gradually extinguished, and the shyness and joy on her face were replaced by awkwardness.

Luke pretended not to notice.

"This is for you."

After dinner, Luke took a blue-green box from his pocket and handed it to Margaret.

It was a new Eternal Radiance necklace.
