Chapter 114 Unexpected Encounter at the Hospital

Elsa was sharp. She saw the picture of David taking Karen to meet Dylan and instantly knew what he was up to.

But with Vincent's condition still shaky, Elsa couldn't think about anything else.

Jonny had attached a note to the picture saying: [If you need anything, just let me know. I won't make it hard for you, and you don't have to feel embarrassed to ask.]

Elsa was so touched she was speechless.

Elsa asked Chloe to keep an eye on David for now. She'd handle the rest once Vincent got better.

Elsa took a week off to care for Vincent, spending every day with him in the sun, getting IV drips, and eating nutritional supplements.

Vincent had a positive outlook. For him, having Elsa around was the best thing ever.

One day, Elsa was pushing Vincent in a wheelchair on the hospital lawn when she heard Eric's voice behind her.

"Elsa?"

She turned to see Eric's bright smile.

Jonathan and Eric were pushing a patient on the lawn. The patient seemed to be in a vegetative state but was well-groomed, showing he was their family member.

"Mr. Green, Eric, you're here too," Elsa greeted them quickly.

"This is my brother Vincent Miller," she said to Vincent. "Vincent, say hello."

"Hello, Uncle. Hello, Brother!" Vincent smiled sweetly and greeted Jonathan and Eric.

Vincent looked much thinner and paler than Eric, who had a healthy tan from outdoor activities. Despite that, their small faces and big eyes made them look oddly alike.

"You and Eric look a bit alike," Jonathan noted, looking at Vincent.

"When were you born? Who's older?" Eric asked, clearly taking an instant liking to Vincent and he took over the task of pushing Vincent's wheelchair.

They found out Vincent and Eric were born the same year, with Eric being half a year older.

"There's a beautiful patch of tulips up ahead. Let me take you to see them," Eric said, flashing a big smile and pushing Vincent away.

That left Elsa and Jonathan with the elderly patient in the wheelchair.

Elsa remembered Jonathan mentioning visiting a friend when they last met at the hospital entrance. This must be the friend.

Not wanting to pry into Jonathan's private matters, Elsa talked about other things.

"It's such a coincidence to meet here. And Eric and Vincent really do look alike, don't they? When I first saw Eric at the party, I thought he looked like my brother," Elsa said lightheartedly.

"Fate works in mysterious ways," Jonathan agreed.

Seeing Vincent in the wheelchair, Jonathan felt a pang of sympathy.

Jonathan had looked into Elsa's background and knew a bit about her mother Leslie's suicide and Vincent's congenital heart disease. Now, seeing the pale and thin Vincent, his compassion deepened.

"How did it get worse again?" Jonathan asked.

"Vincent just had a heart transplant and couldn't handle the stress. The caregiver and I couldn't prevent it," Elsa sighed and explained.

Jonathan frowned thoughtfully.

"I moved to Maplewood City for my career and brought my father with me. I'm planning to send him to a private care facility run by a friend. Why not have Vincent join him?" Jonathan suggested.

Elsa then asked, "This is your father?"

Jonathan nodded.

"Vincent's condition just needs maintenance now. A private care facility is indeed a good choice, but..." Elsa trailed off.

"You don't need to worry about the cost. I'll cover everything," Jonathan offered, understanding Elsa's difficulties.
