Chapter 231 Where's My Gift
"I've got one request: I never want to see Jasmine again," Elsa said, fed up with Jasmine clinging to her like a leech.
"Sure thing," Luke nodded. Then he turned to Aaron and Holly, "Uncle Aaron, Aunt Holly, take Jasmine home. I'll get to the bottom of this. If Elsa's not at fault, you either send Jasmine abroad for school or marry her off quick. She can't be around the family anymore."
Luke had the whole Taylor family under his thumb, and what he said went.
Even though Aaron had his own career, he still depended on Luke and couldn't risk crossing him.
"Thank goodness the kid's okay. I'll make sure Jasmine gets punished and apologize to Elsa," Aaron said, clearly terrified and way more humble than usual.
"It was Elsa who started it! I didn't know she was pregnant when I pushed her!" Jasmine muttered defiantly outside the hospital room.
Holly rushed out and slapped Jasmine across the face, "Shut up! Don't ever show your face to Elsa again!"
Jasmine, who'd always been spoiled at home, was stunned by Holly's slap. She looked at Holly in shock, "Mom, you hit me for an outsider!"
She started crying uncontrollably, not caring about her dignity.
Elsa frowned in frustration and looked helplessly at Aaron, "Uncle Aaron, can you take her away?"
Aaron and Holly, looking deeply apologetic, finally took Jasmine away, leaving just Luke and Elsa in the hospital room.
"Why do I feel like you're always ending up in the hospital?" Luke murmured, holding Elsa's hand, his eyes full of tenderness.
Elsa's heart softened; she didn't feel so bad anymore.
She extended her other hand, palm up, "Hand it over."
Luke looked puzzled, "What?"
"Don't you always bring me gifts when you go on business trips?" she said, sounding entitled.
Even now, she remembered to ask for a gift; it seemed her health was okay.
Luke's heartache eased a bit because of her words.
He made a phone call, and soon Max walked in carrying a huge cardboard box.
"The city we visited on our business trip has these super popular dolls. Mr. Taylor thought if other girls liked them, you would too," Max said, proudly showing off the dolls and filling Elsa's hospital bed with them.
"You got all of these?" Elsa couldn't take her eyes off a limited-edition doll, marveling at the perks of wealth.
Before her parents divorced, she had a good life; otherwise, she wouldn't always dream of Leslie taking her to the amusement park. But after that, her childhood was over.
Her life was marked by financial hardship and a lack of paternal love. It was tough.
As an adult, she felt immense envy when she saw happy kids.
But she had never mentioned any of this to Luke. How did he know? Pregnancy had made her emotions delicate, and she felt moved to tears.
She buried her face in the doll's belly, wiping away the moisture from her eyelashes, and looked up with a smile, "Then I owe you a return gift."
"Do I get a gift too?" Luke looked at her with immense affection.
Max had already discreetly slipped out.
Elsa covered Luke's eyes with one hand and cleared her throat solemnly.
"Honey, guess what this is?"
She placed the pregnancy test report in Luke's hand.
Although her plan had been disrupted, she had still managed to follow through.
Luke repeatedly looked at the date on the pregnancy test report, feeling a mix of emotions, "So, you were planning to surprise me after my business trip?"
Elsa had found out she was pregnant a week ago. Knowing how much it meant to him, she had waited for him to return to surprise him.
But Jasmine had almost caused him to lose this child! Fortunately, the child was safe. Luke couldn't bear to think about what would have happened if the child hadn't been saved.
