Chapter 394 Paternity Test Results

"Grandma, I can reunite with my family over there without any regrets. But I worry about you." Seeing Lara's eyes redden, Giselle softened her tone, her voice choking up.

She already looked pitiful, and now with her red eyes and nose, she was even more heart-wrenching. Even Elsa, a woman herself, couldn't help but be captivated.

"I know others can take good care of you, but I just can't feel at ease." Giselle, afraid of being laughed at, "held back" her tears, dabbed her eyes with a tissue, and forced a smile. "Grandma has another granddaughter now, Elsa is reliable and steady, so I can feel a bit more at ease."

Luke used to say Elsa was too rigid and unwilling to bend. Now, she finally understood what it meant to be "soft" and why many men preferred gentle women.

Compared to Giselle, the gentleness of Karen and Margaret was nothing.

Despite Giselle's somewhat heavy-handed performance, even as a woman, Elsa couldn't help but want to take care of her. If it were a man, he probably wouldn't be able to resist.

Elsa wasn't a smooth talker, and being entrusted by Giselle put her in an awkward position.

She took a sip of water and said calmly, "Giselle, you're blessed. Let's not talk about such sad things."

She understood Giselle. With her entire family gone, living under someone else's roof, trying to survive in a prestigious family like the Kings, how could she not say sweet words and be charming?

It was her way of survival, and there was nothing wrong with that.

"Yes, don't say such things, my dear. You'll be fine." Lara wiped her tears and hugged Giselle's shoulders.

The deep bond between grandmother and granddaughter.

Elsa looked at Lara's beautiful, kind face, slightly lost in thought. If Leslie were truly a member of the King family, Lara would be her grandmother. If Lara were her grandmother, would she treat her as well as she treated Giselle?

She probably would. After all, blood was thicker than water, and she already liked her quite a bit.

Giselle was in the late stages of liver cancer. Though everyone tried to comfort her, they knew the chances of recovery were slim. Eventually, the grandmother and granddaughter hugged and cried together.

Jonathan tried to console them for a long time.

Elsa, who usually kept her emotions in check, felt uncomfortable with the scene but joined Jonathan in comforting them. By the end of the meal, she felt emotionally drained.

She instinctively felt that Giselle wasn't as pure-hearted as she appeared, but Giselle's character didn't concern her.

"According to Mendelian inheritance, the CPI (parentage index) between sample one and sample two is 99.95%, indicating a familial relationship."

Elsa received the report on a typical Friday afternoon. She stared at the words in the email, momentarily unable to process them.

"Take a look at this for me." The first thing she did was forward the email to Chloe via WhatsApp, her tone calm as always when something significant happened.

Chloe immediately started a video call.

"You and Mr. King are indeed related! What are you going to do?" Chloe asked.

"I don't know." Elsa shook her head.

Although she was in the rising phase of her career and a small business owner, she didn't have the financial power to compete with the King family. If the King family didn't acknowledge her, presenting the paternity test results might seem like she was trying to cling to them.

Elsa wasn't the type to cling to others. Besides, Lara already had Giselle by her side; her presence might be too much.

A call came in from an unknown number, interrupting Chloe's video.

"Elsa, it's Grandma. Where are you?" Lara's voice trembled slightly, clearly trying to suppress something.

"At the office." Elsa's heart raced, but she calmly gave her location.

"Don't move, Grandma will come to you in 20 minutes. No, 10 minutes!" Lara hung up in a hurry.

Chloe's video call resumed. "Don't you want to recognize your own family? I can tell you really like Lara; you keep staring at her."

Really? She thought it was only Lara who kept looking at her.

Elsa took a deep breath. "She just called and said she's coming to see me."

"Could it be..."

"Maybe."
