Chapter 33: Luke's Car Accident

Valley of Hope Hospital was the one owned by Karida, and Elsa visited four or five times a week. She found the emergency room where Luke was located, and saw many people standing outside. She had met Max and Terry before, and at that moment, the two were comforting Karen, who was sitting in the waiting area and crying.

"What happened?" Elsa was anxious when Max called and hadn't inquired further on the phone.

"Karen suddenly rushed into the middle of the road, blocking Luke's car. Luke crashed into the guardrail while trying to avoid hitting her," Max explained honestly.

"Luke did that to protect me, he was afraid that I would get hurt! If something happens to Luke, I won't ever forgive myself," Karen cried, causing people passing by in the hospital to glance over at her, but only Elsa could see the elation in her eyes.

Elsa thought Luke had gotten into a car accident on his way to the courthouse, but it turned out that Karen was behind his absence. Elsa felt a bit sad. She shamelessly claimed last night that she thought Luke liked her more, but today she lost so completely.

"Oh." Although she had many thoughts in her mind, she responded with a cold monosyllable.

Karen cried louder and louder, with one man handing her tissues and another speaking to comfort her.

"Since you're all here, I'll just head back," Elsa, who felt like an invisible person, said indifferently after a while.

"Elsa, Luke is in critical condition," Terry said.

The reactions of the two Misses Miller were starkly different. Terry was already angry with Elsa for threatening Luke, and now he was even more annoyed by her attitude.

"So what?" Elsa looked at him.

"This morning, Luke said in the chat group that you were going to get married and sign the certificate today. Your fiancé is now in the emergency room, and your indifferent attitude is really strange."

‘Her demeanor is too indifferent. She doesn't care about Luke at all!' Terry thought angrily.

"Elsa, how can you be so heartless?" Karen slowly stopped crying and accused Elsa.

Elsa didn't respond to Terry's words. She smiled falsely at Karen. "What do you mean? Do you want me to stay and 'take care' of Luke?"

"You don't have to do that!" Karen quickly said.

Karen had gone to see Luke that morning to repair their relationship over the incident with the necklace. Little did she know that Luke had intended to go to the courthouse to get a marriage certificate with Elsa. In her panic, she rushed over to stop his car.

This caused Luke to have an accident, which made Karen panic, but it also gave her hope: Luke still had feelings for her, otherwise he wouldn't have hit the guardrail to protect her.

If Elsa stayed here, it would only ruin her and Luke's time alone. She didn't want that.

"Goodbye then," Elsa said as she was about to leave.

"Elsa, before Luke went into the emergency room, he specifically asked me to find you," Max automatically replaced 'Miss Miller' with 'Elsa' since both Misses Miller were present.

"Did he ask me to come and hear about his glorious act of protecting his ex-girlfriend?"

"Elsa, clearly you are the one who is ruining Luke and Karen's relationship, you shouldn't say such things at this time," Terry complained on Luke's behalf.

"By giving Karen the chance to be alone with him, it would give them a chance to reconcile their relationship. Aren't you happy about that?" Seeing Terry's unyielding look, Elsa knew he favored Karen more.

"But what Luke wants is..." Terry wanted to say, "what Luke wants is you," but seeing Karen's teary eyes, he couldn't bring himself to say it. So Elsa really left without looking back.

When Karida came out of the emergency room, she saw her friend's tense face.
