Chapter 221 Husband
George looked more spirited than he did on TV, sitting in the head of the table with a cigar in his mouth.
Brian and George seemed really close.
Elsa knew in her heart that this banquet was not simple, but she walked over without showing any emotion.
George saw Elsa approaching, looked her up and down, and teased, "The poker whiz is here."
He had heard some things about her in the past few days.
"Mr. Price, thank you for your hospitality." Elsa felt a bit embarrassed but remained calm on the surface.
"Luke calls me grandpa with Karida, but you act so distant. What, calling me grandpa is too much for you?" George exhaled a puff of smoke, remarking discontentedly.
He was Karida's grandpa?
Elsa quickly sorted out the relationships in her mind and hurriedly said, "Hello, Grandpa."
George finally smiled, saying, "You're quite clever, knowing that I don't like plain colors at my age, and you came dressed in red."
It was only then that Elsa noticed that the Price Family's servants were all dressed in rather bright colors, even Brian was wearing a pink suit.
She found it amusing and couldn't help but smile as she stated, "What a coincidence; I came to Stellaria City hoping to get lucky at the tables, so I packed a suitcase full of red outfits."
George mentioned Luke and Karida, and Elsa quickly understood what was going on.
She handed over a box of pastries with both hands, "Grandpa, I bought these especially for you."
She also gave Brian a box, "Uncle Brian, it is for you."
Brian spat out a mouthful of tea, coughing uncontrollably.
Elsa stayed at the Price Family's house for an evening. She and George seemed to hit it off, and after dinner, she was pulled into a few games of chess.
Brian, already somewhat wavering, agreed to Elsa's request after George's mediation.
With everything settled, Elsa let out a long breath as she walked out of the Price Family's door.
She hadn't expected Luke to step in to help her.
Her feelings were complicated, and the grievances of the past few days welled up in her heart.
In the taxi, she video-called Luke.
This time, Luke answered quickly.
"Honey," she said, her voice unconsciously soft.
Luke responded, waiting for her to continue.
He was close to the camera, showing only his handsome face.
Looking at the handsome Luke on the screen, Elsa's heart suddenly started to race.
"Thank you," she uttered, at a loss for words.
Luke raised an eyebrow but didn't respond.
They stared at each other in silence for two minutes, and Elsa felt a bit awkward, "I'll be back tomorrow."
"Okay," Luke responded.
"Goodbye..." said Elsa.
After hanging up the video call, Elsa felt a sense of loss.
Normally, Luke would ask when she was coming back, or at least coldly say, "I've helped you achieve your goal, shouldn't you come back now?" But this time, he didn't ask at all.
How did they get to this point? She sighed inwardly, her mood sinking again.
When she arrived at the hotel, Elsa was still feeling down. She failed to notice Luke sitting on the lobby sofa and walked straight to the elevator.
As the elevator doors closed, Luke's tall figure squeezed in, pinning her against the elevator wall.
Before she could utter a cry, Luke's lips were already on hers.
It was the familiar scent of orange blossom. Luke lowered his head, cupped her chin, and used his tongue to part her teeth, invading her mouth.
"Honey," she moaned, out of breath, feeling unsteady on her feet as she grabbed his tie for balance.
Luke's eyes darkened.
