Chapter 233 Pregnancy-Associated Syndromes
Luke was casually scrolling through articles about diets for pregnant women on his phone when a notification popped up. He tapped on it and found a trending news video.
In the video, Elsa, like all those lucky enough to marry into wealth, was gushing about Luke. She said he could name their child, promised to give him four kids, and was proud to be his wife.
The comments were dripping with sarcasm.
[Really? I used to like Elsa after seeing Luke's post.]
[She's just a regular girl who married rich. Does she think having kids will secure her spot?]
[I thought she was a strong, independent woman after reading Jonny's post.]
Karida finished watching and asked: [What's her angle here?]
Luke replied: [It's simple, she's telling her rivals she's done fighting.]
Luke quickly understood Elsa's game. She wasn't the kind of woman who easily gave up; on the contrary, he had to admit she was very smart. She knew how to play the media.
She didn't care what strangers thought, as long as she got what she wanted.
If it weren't for her rough family history and thirst for revenge, Elsa would have been even more remarkable.
Luke watched the interview again, his eyes softening. If she were really that submissive, he might not be so hooked on her.
Karida and Terry, catching on, sent thumbs-up emojis.
Karida: [Impressive!]
Terry: [Impressive!]
The Miller family, seeing all the media buzz about Elsa's pregnancy, started to relax. They had no clue Elsa was setting a trap and were just focused on cursing her to lose the baby.
Elsa's words made Debbie happy.
Debbie always thought Elsa wasn't the obedient type. Now, seeing her humble herself in the media and be so happy about the pregnancy, she felt Elsa was perfect for her son.
As the baby grew, Elsa was hit hard by morning sickness. The little weight she had gained was disappearing, and her face was getting sharper.
Luke watched silently, the pain in his eyes clear.
After a couple of weeks, Luke started feeling nauseous and throwing up too.
Elsa, worried about Luke despite her own condition, insisted on taking him to the hospital.
"It's probably pregnancy-associated syndromes," the doctor said after hearing their story.
This usually happens in couples with a strong bond. The husband, overly anxious and worried about his pregnant wife, subconsciously wanted to share her suffering, leading to his own symptoms.
No need for medical intervention; once Elsa got through the next month or two, Luke was fine.
"You two have a great relationship," the doctor said sincerely.
Elsa looked at Luke and asked, "Are you a bit too nervous?"
"I've just been eating irregularly, and my stomach's not doing well," Luke said awkwardly.
Elsa laughed. The doctor was right; their relationship was solid.
They didn't bring a driver, so Luke drove them home.
On the way back, Elsa thought about the doctor's words and looked at Luke's handsome profile, feeling happy.
"Honey, let me treat you to a meal. You've gotten so skinny!" She reached out and touched Luke's chin.
