Chapter 373 I Want to Kill Her

The news of Margaret's disappearance was all over the media, causing quite a stir, and Elsa had heard about it too.

But she had never been one to care much about other people's business, so she didn't give it much thought.

It wasn't until Margaret was found and sent to a psychiatric hospital by Luke that Elsa learned of it.

The media's detailed recounting of the events, with no regard for the Collins family's reputation, surprised Elsa.

Seeing the pitiful state Margaret was in when she was found, Elsa couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy. Five days—what kind of humiliation had this sheltered young lady endured?

Margaret wasn't as kind and delicate as she appeared. She was always clinging to the powerful, competing with other women, and using underhanded tactics. It was no wonder she had made enemies.

But to be harmed like this, who had she offended?

When the media's camera panned to a warehouse in the suburbs, a familiar scene flashed in Elsa's mind, and her breath caught.

Was Karen back? Had she turned against Margaret and used the same old trick to lock her in the warehouse?

It didn't make sense. If Karen were back, her main target should be Elsa.

As Elsa was puzzling over this, her phone rang.

"I'm downstairs," Luke's hoarse voice sounded particularly weary over the phone.

Elsa knew she shouldn't set a precedent by letting him come up again.

But remembering Luke's vulnerable state that night, her heart tightened.

"I'll unlock the elevator for you. Come on up," she said, throwing on a jacket over her loungewear and heading to the elevator to meet him.

When the elevator doors opened, the cold air Luke brought with him made Elsa take a step back.

Luke's eyes were shadowed with dark circles, and stubble lined his jaw. He looked calm, but Elsa knew he had something to say.

She let Luke in, and he immediately pulled her into a tight embrace.

"I'm sorry, I was wrong," Luke blurted out as soon as he stepped inside, holding Elsa so tightly it was as if he wanted to merge her into himself.

Elsa let him hold her without moving.

Once Luke had calmed down a bit, she led him to the couch.

She went to the liquor cabinet and brought out a bottle of tequila, pouring half a glass for each of them.

Luke downed his in one gulp, the bitterness in his throat matching the bitterness in his heart.

He had so much to say on the way over, but now he felt choked up, unsure of how to begin.

His throat worked as he hesitated for a long time. "It's all my fault. I was blind and foolish, making you suffer so much and causing the death of our child."

The mention of the child was Elsa's deepest pain.

Hearing that word made her heart skip a beat, her breath catching, but she kept her face impassive. "What happened?"

After learning the whole story, Elsa's mind went blank for a long time.

She leaned back on the couch, replaying Luke's words in her head, then stood up in a daze.

She mumbled something, and Luke didn't catch it. "What?"

"I'm going to kill her."

"I'm going to kill her!" Elsa repeated, her eyes red with rage, then shouted uncontrollably.

She could tolerate all the dirty tricks Margaret had pulled, but she had killed her child, the child who could have come into this world and been loved, sharing her blood!

Elsa's heart pounded wildly, her mind consumed with one thought: Margaret must pay with her life!
