Chapter 87 The Boy in the White T-Shirt
The cocktail party hosted by the Prosperous Abundance Group attracted hundreds of guests. It was not only an opportunity for suppliers and buyers to interact but also the best chance for many entrepreneurs to expand their network.
Therefore, everyone present was smiling and chatting around, like hunters waiting for the right moment to strike.
Chloe was pulled away by her partner to discuss something, giving Elsa the perfect opportunity to walk around and gather information about the hosts. It was said that the Prosperous Abundance Group was a major construction company in the southern market and had expanded its business to Maplewood City this year. Elsa had looked up the board members online but found very little information.
In a crowd of hundreds, finding the real host was no easy task. Elsa found a corner with a good view and sat down, carefully observing everything in front of her.
Suddenly, a boy in a white T-shirt and baseball cap swaggered in with a backpack.
Since the invitation had specifically stated formal attire, even guests who brought their young heirs learning the ropes of business had dressed their sons in suits.
This boy in a T-shirt and baseball cap looked like he had wandered into an adult social event after school, drawing many curious glances. Someone even whispered, "There are special police security at the hotel entrance. How did he get in?"
But the boy seemed oblivious to the stares, moving nonchalantly among the suited men and finding a table to sit at and eat.
'He looks about the same age as Vincent,' Elsa thought, finding the boy interesting.
He was a bit more robust than Vincent, with equally beautiful eyes. He probably just finished an art class, as there were paint stains on his T-shirt.
The boy seemed to notice Elsa's gaze and looked up.
Elsa smiled kindly, and the boy suddenly seemed shy, lowering his head.
Later, Elsa decided to intervene because the boy started drinking! He had gone to the bar and grabbed a bottle of champagne, drinking straight from the bottle.
Elsa wasn't sure if the boy was of legal drinking age, but judging by his backpack, he was likely attending some elite high school. High school students weren't allowed to drink. Normally, Elsa wouldn't meddle in such matters, but this boy inexplicably reminded her of Vincent.
So, Elsa walked over and snatched the half-drunk bottle from the boy's hand.
"What are you doing?" The boy looked up at Elsa in surprise.
"Minors can't drink," Elsa said righteously.
"I'll be an adult in a month," the boy said, reaching for the bottle.
"Yes, in a month, so you can't drink now. Not yet," Elsa said, holding the bottle high out of the boy's reach.
Upstairs, a few people were watching the scene unfold.
"Mrs. Taylor is quite enthusiastic," Max said sincerely, observing the varied expressions of the others.
Terry and Karida both came from families with businesses, so their invitation was expected. Luke, however, had casually given his plus-one to Max. Most entrepreneurs brought female companions, so these four handsome men standing together were quite eye-catching.
"Didn't Elsa come with you?" Karida asked Luke.
"No, she came with Chloe Clark," Luke said, his eyes fixed on the lively Elsa downstairs, unable to look away.
It was said that Elsa was aware of her beauty, but what she knew of her beauty probably fell short of her true allure.
Terry and Karida had somewhat learned about Elsa's relationship with the Miller family recently and could guess her purpose for attending the party.
"Elsa seems a bit naive. Even if she finds the right person, she can't change anything about a multi-million dollar project," Karida said.
"Yes, but her approach to getting close to the hosts is quite unique," Terry said, his previous bias against Elsa replaced by guilt, allowing him to evaluate her calmly.
"What do you mean?" Karida asked.
"That boy is Jonathan Green's son," Luke said, his eyes still on Elsa downstairs.
