Chapter 198 If You're Unhappy, You Can Throw a Tantrum

"I'm done eating!" Jasmine yelled, storming off when she realized neither Aaron nor Holly were sticking up for her.

"Elsa, Jasmine's just spoiled. I'll deal with her when we get back. Don't worry about it," Holly said.

The tension at the table was thick. Holly watched Jasmine stomp away, feeling embarrassed, and quickly apologized to Elsa.

"I'll have Jasmine apologize to you tomorrow," Aaron said, looking awkward.

"It's fine. What Ms. Taylor thinks of me doesn't matter," Elsa replied.

Elsa was just stating the obvious. To her, Jasmine was a nobody. She didn't care what Jasmine thought of her.

"If you don't want people to talk, you should act right," Debbie said coldly.

"No matter how I act, if someone wants to twist it, I can't stop them," Elsa shot back.

Thinking about the earlier drama, Elsa glanced at Debbie with a mocking smile.

It was a clear provocation.

Debbie, predictably, was furious.

"Elsa, I was wrong last time, but is this how you treat your elders?"

Elsa wasn't scared. She stood up with a cold smile. "I'm full. I'm going home. Enjoy your meal."

Without another glance at Debbie, she turned to leave.

But someone grabbed her wrist, stopping her.

"Do you have to be so sharp?" Luke asked.

Luke looked annoyed, his brows furrowed. He knew Elsa was upset, but he didn't like her making Debbie look bad in front of Aaron and Holly.

Elsa hadn't planned to argue with Debbie in front of everyone, but once the conversation escalated, she felt justified in standing her ground.

She suddenly felt like laughing.

She'd been ignored all night, and now Luke was blaming her for being sharp?

Seeing the hurt in Elsa's eyes, Luke felt a bit guilty.

"Debbie is an elder," Luke said helplessly.

Elsa was the woman he wanted to spend his life with. It wasn't good for them to be at odds.

Elsa took a deep breath. "Sorry, Ms. Harrison."

Then she turned to Luke. "Can I go home now?"

Luke's heart softened, and he put his arm around Elsa's shoulder. "Let's go together."

On the way back, Elsa sat by the car window, keeping her distance from Luke.

Luke tried a few times to pull her close, but seeing she was ignoring him, he gave up.

Holly called, apologizing profusely and asking Luke to comfort Elsa.

Luke glanced at Elsa, who seemed lost in thought, and didn't know how to start.

"Holly said she didn't discipline Jasmine well and asked me to apologize for her."

"No need. Jasmine didn't say anything wrong," Elsa said, staring out the window.

When she decided to marry Luke, she hadn't thought about how long it would last. She didn't care about their different backgrounds or how his family saw her.

But after this dinner, Elsa felt a heavy weight on her chest.

'No wonder people say marriage isn't just between two people but a merging of two families. My humble origins are a fact. As long as I'm Luke's wife, I'll be looked down upon,' Elsa thought.

Elsa didn't feel like talking, and Luke felt a pang in his heart seeing her so quiet.

After a while, Elsa rolled down the window, letting the cold winter wind rush in, making her shiver.

Seeing this, Luke quickly took off his coat and finally had the chance to pull Elsa into his arms.

Elsa's stiffness was clear, and at that moment, Luke felt only dejected.

"If you're unhappy, you can throw a tantrum," Luke said, lifting her chin to look into her eyes.
