Chapter 449 Confronting Jonathan

Despite his dirty jokes, Luke didn't pester Elsa for sex that night.

Instead, he ran her a bath, and when he figured the water was getting cold, he lifted her out of the tub, dried her with a towel, and applied body lotion to her.

After finishing all this, he patted her back like coaxing a child until she fell asleep.

Elsa let him do as he pleased, quiet and obedient, and soon she really did fall asleep.

She had things on her mind, so she didn't sleep well.

In her dream, she and Chloe attended Jonathan's wedding. Giselle covered her face with the bridal veil and said in a very small voice, "Bet you didn't see this coming—I faked being sick just for this day."

"Giselle, do you love him?" Chloe asked.

"Whether I love him or not is my business. It doesn't matter. What matters is that he loves me, not you. Everyone in the world only loves me..." Giselle let out an eerie laugh that sent chills down people's spines.

Suddenly, Chloe smashed a porcelain plate at the banquet. She crouched down, picked up a sharp shard, and stabbed it hard into her own arm.

"Chloe!" Elsa woke up with a start, large drops of cold sweat falling down.

"Elsa, don't be scared, I'm here." Luke was alert immediately, reaching out to hold her in his arms.

Had he not been sleeping at all? That reaction was way too fast.

Elsa was half-held by Luke as he fed her a few sips of water. In her daze, she thought about this and barely managed to calm down.

Luke didn't take out his phone to send Jonathan a WhatsApp message until he'd coaxed her back to sleep.

[Mr. King, Elsa was in really bad shape today. After finding her family, she should be happier, not more miserable. If there's one more time she leaves the King Manor upset like this, don't blame me for not letting her go back.]

Luke's words were firm, and he'd always been a man of his word. Jonathan couldn't possibly take it as a joke.

Besides, he truly cared about Elsa from the bottom of his heart.

Early the next morning, Jonathan headed straight to Luke's villa and saw Elsa, who hadn't gone out.

When Elsa saw Jonathan arrive, her soft little face immediately tensed up. She put down the bread in her hand and was about to leave.

"What, you dislike your uncle so much you won't even eat?" Jonathan didn't take it to heart, sitting down across from Elsa with a smile.

He nodded at Luke as a greeting.

Luke got the hint. He finished the coffee in his cup in one gulp, added two more slices of Spanish ham to Elsa's plate, and said, "I'm heading to work. Eat properly, and have a good talk with your uncle when you're done."

Elsa made a noncommittal sound.

Finally, only Jonathan and Elsa were left in the villa's dining room.

"So tell me, why are you angry?" Jonathan helplessly reached out and patted Elsa's head. "Grandma was so upset by you that she got dizzy. She went to the hospital last night, and the doctor said she's at risk for high blood pressure and needs to be careful from now on. She's been kept there for observation."

What?

Elsa was shocked.

Yesterday, she'd been so angry she lost her head. Attacking Giselle aside, thinking back on it now, what she'd said to Lara was also a bit too much.

So what if they were blood relatives? Who Lara liked was her own freedom. Why should she resent it just because the one being favored wasn't her?

Giselle was fake-kind and truly selfish, but if Lara was happy and Jonathan liked her, what right did she have to fight this injustice?

What right did she have to demand that others dislike Giselle just like she did?

It was simply that she couldn't swallow this for Chloe's sake.

Thinking of this, Elsa put down the toast in her hand and sighed. "Uncle, I'm angry because of you and Giselle sleeping together."
