Chapter 64 Vincent's Immediate Surgery

Elsa thought, 'Taking a taxi wouldn't be convenient now. It would be better to ride with Luke.' So she sat down at the dining table.

"Is it convenient for you? Will this trouble you?" Elsa secretly hoped that everyone would know she was married to Luke, but given her special status, he probably wouldn't want to make it public.

"It's nothing, just giving a ride to an employee," Luke said, his words not matching his true feelings.

"Okay." Elsa was still excited about working at Dalton Banks. Although Luke's words made her a bit uncomfortable, she didn't dwell on it for long.

Elsa didn't eat much breakfast, but she had a slight smile on her face the whole time, which caught Luke's attention.

The driver had been waiting at the door for half an hour.

"Shall we go?" Seeing Luke leisurely finish his breakfast and elegantly wipe his mouth, Elsa couldn't help but urge him.

Luke subtly curled his lips and said, "Perform well when you get there. If you want to stay, you have to rely on your abilities."

"Got it. I will!" Elsa nodded eagerly.

It seemed Elsa really liked jewelry design. Luke thought his decision was brilliant. He felt a bit proud when seeing Elsa's eager expression.

'Elsa hasn't finished her studies yet. I need to find an opportunity to send her back to school. No, I can't accept her going so far away unless I go with her,' Luke thought.

Elsa didn't know the turmoil in Luke's mind. After getting in the car, she looked at him with bright eyes and said, "Thank you."

Elsa leaned in and kissed the corner of Luke's lips.

Luke stared straight ahead, feeling that morning's warmth in his ears again. If he wasn't worried about affecting Elsa's first day at work, he would have pinned her down during breakfast.

Seeing Luke not reacting, Elsa also looked straight ahead and sat properly.

Just then, the phone rang.

"Ms. Miller, Vincent Miller's heart donor passed away at 6:50 this morning. We need to perform the heart transplant surgery immediately." It was Vincent's attending physician on the phone.

"Okay, I'm coming right away!" Elsa said hurriedly. Her heart raced and her hands trembled, causing her phone to drop onto the seat.

"Stop the car." Elsa bent down to pick up the phone, took off her high heels, and was about to open the door to run barefoot to a place where she could get a taxi.

"What's wrong?" Luke reached out and held Elsa's waist, pressing her back into the seat.

"Vincent, Vincent's surgery is about to start!"

Feeling the trembling waist under his hand, Luke sensed Elsa's anxiety.

"Then why are you getting out of the car?"

"You go to work by yourself. I need to take the day off."

"Elsa Miller, do you think I'd let my wife wait for a cab alone while her brother undergoes such a major surgery?" Luke felt almost amused by Elsa's idea.

"Wife." Hearing such an intimate term from Luke, who was on the Forbes list, Elsa found it novel and looked up at him.

"You're nervous?" Luke asked Elsa.

"A little." Elsa had imagined Vincent's heart transplant surgery countless times, but when the day had finally come, she felt only agitated, not excitement.

"Modern medical technology is very advanced. You have to believe that Vincent will be fine."

Luke held Elsa on his lap, rocking her like a child to soothe her, while instructing the driver to head to the hospital.

Elsa responded with a single syllable, still trembling slightly.
