Chapter 48 Elsa, Come Out for a Moment

This is the question Luke has never dared to ponder deeply.

When he was young, he also had a crush on his childhood friend Margaret. Margaret was gentle, kind, and well-mannered. He always thought that a wife should be like her.

But later, Margaret married in Australia, and he got engaged to Karen. Margaret and Karen both fit his idea of how a woman should be. Gentle and considerate, clinging to him like velvet flowers.

But Elsa was different. She was like a wild rose, beautiful and thorny. She was sometimes clever and sometimes rebellious, difficult to tame.

He couldn't explain his feelings for her, he just knew that when she was hurt, his heart would ache, and when she was happy, it would lift the corners of his lips.

"Forget it. I was just asking casually." Elsa smiled before Luke could speak and quickly covered his lips.

She was a bit afraid of his answer. She wasn't even sure about her feelings for Luke, so she had no right to demand anything from him.

Elsa couldn't remember how many times she and Luke had made love that day, she only remembered that Luke carried her to the shower later.

As she drifted off to sleep, Luke bit her ear and said 'no divorce' several times. When she woke up in the morning, Luke had already gone to work, leaving a note on the bedside table and his unlimited bank card.

[I've already handed in your resignation at your previous job. Get ready, you're going to intern at the Dalton Banks Design Department next week. Vincent's surgery fees were paid last month. You don't need to earn money, just focus on your design.]

His words were as stubborn as he was, and the information was overwhelming. He arranged for her to intern at the company of her dreams and had already paid for his brother's surgery last month! Luke never owed her anything, but she had disturbed his peaceful life and forced him to marry her.

Yet Luke had always silently tolerated her and done many things for her. Elsa's eyes suddenly became a little moist. She felt restless all day.

In the evening, when Luke hadn't returned yet, she suddenly received a call from Jonny. "Elsa, come out and chat with me, okay?"

Jonny sounded a bit drunk, with a slightly slurred voice.

"Jonny, where are you? Have you encountered something?" Elsa immediately became alert.

There was recent news that a group of homeowners had caused trouble at the latest development by the Jones family.

Combined with Jonny's despondent tone, she was worried.

"Come over quickly." Jonny mentioned the name of a nightclub and hung up before Elsa could react.

Elsa was afraid he was in danger, so she quickly left a note like Luke and went out.

When Elsa arrived at the nightclub, Jonny was already heavily intoxicated, leaning against the booth and waving at Elsa.

"Why did you drink so much?" Elsa walked over and took Jonny's glass away. Jonny usually drank sparkling water at gatherings with friends because of his low alcohol tolerance.

This time, he must have encountered something heartbreaking.

"Elsa." Jonny looked up with his red eyes as he gazed at her.

"I heard about the homeowners causing trouble. It's a small matter for the Jones family, not worth you feeling so upset," she said.

Jonny just shook his head. "Even if the Jones family has gone bankrupt and they have lost everything overnight, I wouldn't feel a bit of pain. What makes me suffer is you! Why did you get married?"

Under the enchanting lights of the nightclub, Jonny's eyes looked particularly sad.
