Chapter 217 Brian: "Your goal is me."

Brian definitely didn't come over.

Elsa wasn't in any rush either. She grabbed another helping of roast meat, eating slowly while her mind raced.

The next morning, Brian and Elsa met at the card table. Elsa looked up and smiled. "Mr. Gonzalez."

"You know me, yet you didn't come to see me yesterday?" Brian raised an eyebrow.

'Since she knew me, her neglect yesterday was intentional. She just wanted to pique my interest and show her uniqueness,' Brian thought, his eyes showing a hint of sarcasm.

Elsa noticed his disdain and calmly played with the chips in her hand, saying, "If I didn't do that, how would Mr. Gonzalez find me unique?"

"Well, you're certainly straightforward," Brian said, feeling his defenses lower slightly.

Elsa needed something from him, so she didn't dare to be overly aggressive while playing cards with Brian.

Elsa put a lot of thought into letting Brian win big.

At first, she kept raising the stakes, and her luck was surprisingly good, winning four out of five rounds.

The others at the table were complaining about their losses, but Brian kept calling her bets. Even when he lost, he wasn't annoyed; instead, he looked at Elsa with a bit of admiration.

"A person's character can be shown at the card table. You're quite an exceptional person." Brian had lost most of his chips to Elsa, but he suddenly laughed.

"How so?" Elsa asked humbly.

"When you win money, you don't show it off like most people. When you lose, you remain calm. You're confident and lucky; you're indeed God's favorite." Brian said.

A hint of bitterness flashed in Elsa's eyes, but she smiled and said, "In the end, fate is just a big gamble, and people like me are just a bit bolder than others."

"Why are you bolder than others?" Brian asked.

"Because I don't care whether I win or lose." Elsa replied.

What she cared about was pleasing Brian.

"Then isn't playing cards no fun for you?" A hint of amusement flashed in Brian's deep eyes.

"And you, Mr. Gonzalez? It seems you don't care much about winning or losing either," Elsa retorted.

"Me?" Brian's smile deepened. "Since your age, I've been able to get whatever I wanted. An excess of certainty in life renders it devoid of intrigue."

He turned to gambling as a means of escaping the monotony of his life.

Elsa understood.

She had to stick to her plan and let Brian experience the thrill of a comeback.

So in the second half, Elsa started to play erratically, often calling a round only to fold, or raising the stakes only to end up with a pair.

Worried about being caught deliberately losing, she made sure to win a hand now and then.

She kept playing until she lost all her chips, then stood up and pretended to sigh. "I guess I won't be buying a bag today. Mr. Gonzalez, you've won so much, how about treating me?"

Brian's eyes were full of interest. "I'll treat. What do you want to eat?"

"How about the restaurant from yesterday? But don't bring so many bodyguards; they scare me." Elsa stood up and took a step forward, with Brian following behind.

They rarely had a chance to be alone, and Elsa was calculating how to bring up her intentions.

"You've been hanging around the casino these past few days just because of me." Brian ordered a steak and said nonchalantly.

She hadn't even spoken yet, but Brian had already taken the lead, leaving Elsa momentarily embarrassed.
