Chapter 34: Feed Me

"Why does Elsa act so cold, as if she's a block of ice? I wonder what Luke sees in her," Terry, infuriated by Elsa, complained to Karida.

Karida had experienced Elsa's charm before and chuckled. "They're both consenting adults. Elsa may appear aloof in public, but she's passionate in bed."

Men always found such topics intriguing, and Karida suddenly remembered that Karen was standing nearby.

"Karen, feelings can't be forced," he explained somewhat awkwardly.

After leaving the emergency room, Elsa headed to Vincent's hospital room.

Vincent lay on the bed reading comics, with various fruits and snacks piled beside him. There was even a gaming console.

"Did Chloe or Jonny come by?" Elsa inquired.

"No, it was Karida with some guy named Thompson. He thought I'd be bored alone in the hospital, so he brought me comics and a gaming console," Vincent happily shared his gifts upon Elsa's arrival.

"Max Thompson?"

"Yes, that's the name."

The name 'Max' was synonymous with Luke's presence.

Elsa was surprised that Luke had instructed him to visit Vincent, especially considering the recent transplant issue with the heart transplant. Her heart raced a bit.

She had questions for Luke.

Elsa instructed Vincent not to get too engrossed in gaming, to rest well, and hurried back to the emergency room.

By now, Luke had been moved to a VIP room and was safe from danger.

Karida was at the emergency room entrance, conversing with medical staff, and as Elsa approached, Karida smirked at her.

"Where were you?"

Elsa rushed over, slightly out of breath. She felt proud earlier but now felt awkward upon her return.

"Who are you looking for?" Karida countered.

Elsa blushed.

Following Karida to the room, Terry had already exaggeratedly described Elsa's 'misdeeds' to Luke.

Luke felt increasingly angry and trapped. This woman easily agitated him. The more she did, the less he wanted her to leave.

Terry and Max sat on a nearby couch, while Karen gazed at him from beside the bed.

"It's my fault for being so stubborn, causing you to get hurt protecting me. Luke, we both need to do better in the future," she said tearfully, loud enough for anyone close by to hear.

Elsa stood at the doorway without entering, watching Karen's performance coldly.

"Come here," Luke called to her, suppressing his temper and speaking softly.

"Luke, you still have me in your heart," Karen tried hard to capture Luke's attention.

But Luke's gaze hadn't left Elsa since she entered. He completely ignored Karen's words.

With bandages on his head and a cast on his right arm, Luke was clearly badly injured. Elsa felt oddly saddened.

When she emerged from Vincent's room, having drunk half a bottle of water, she saw Luke beckoning her. She shook the remaining half bottle in her hand and asked, "Do you want some water?"

"Yes," Luke replied, still watching her.

Elsa approached, unscrewed the cap, and handed him the half-full bottle.

"Help me to drink it," Luke said, not taking the bottle, just looking at her pitifully.

The room fell silent as everyone watched. Was this man out of his mind?

Under the gaze of the everyone in the room, Elsa approached to pour the water straight into Luke's mouth.

Luke reached out with his uninjured left hand to steady her waist and drank the remaining water from the bottle.

"Didn't you say that you wanted to leave? Why did you come back?" Terry, still upset by Elsa's earlier actions, taunted her.

Luke shot him a warning glance.

"I had to make sure my man would not reunite with his 'ex-girlfriend,'" Elsa said in a hostile tone. She wiped some excess water off his lips with her thumb.

Her touch was gentle and cool, making him feel oddly comfortable.
