Chapter 240 Let's Get a Divorce

Elsa was stunned for a long time before she asked hesitantly, "What do you mean?"

In fact, she already sensed something was wrong, but she was holding onto a glimmer of hope.

"We'll have many more children, baby." Softly remarking, Luke held her tightly, his arms trembling uncontrollably.

Elsa pushed him away forcefully and sat up in a daze, asking,"So, the baby is gone now, right?"

"I'm sorry, I didn't protect you well enough," Luke apologized.

Seeing her sickly face, the blood-stained bandage on her head, and her frail body in the hospital gown, Luke's heart ached as if it were being torn apart. He reached out to hold her again.

"How long have I been asleep?" Elsa asked hesitantly.

"You've been asleep for three days." Chloe also rushed to the bedside.

"Three days? Joe is dead, how can three days be enough? Mr. Collins is gone, how could you bear to leave Margaret and come back?" She looked at Luke again, her eyes filled with resentment and hatred he had never seen before.

Seeing her look at him as if he were an enemy, Luke's heart ached more and more, but he didn't argue.

"I'm sorry, I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you." Luke said sincerely.

He was wrong. How could he leave her to suffer like this?

Elsa's eyes were so dry that she couldn't shed a single tear.

She had never dared to have children, but after mustering the courage to get pregnant, she had eagerly awaited the arrival of this little life every day, for just a few months.

Maybe heaven thought she didn't perform well enough and took the child back.

She was no longer the person she used to be.

"Let's get a divorce, Luke." Elsa uttered. Having quickly accepted the loss of the child, Elsa showed the same calm and composed demeanor she always had before major events.

Every time she needed Luke, he was always with someone else.

"Elsa, cry it out! Don't be like this!" Chloe hugged her in fright. She remarked, "If you're hurting, just cry!"

Elsa just shook her head and looked straight into Luke's eyes.

"Baby, I was wrong this time. As long as we don't get divorced, you can have anything you want, no matter what it is." Luke, in a panic, reached for her hand.

Elsa subtly avoided his touch.

"I'm tired, Luke. There are too many important things in life. I don't want to be entangled with you anymore," Elsa said, her face showing nothing but endless sorrow, with no other expression.

Luke's heart sank into an abyss.

In this situation, no one dared to say anything.

"You should still think it over. After all, Luke's feelings for you are genuine," Terry decided to try to persuade Elsa.

"Wouldn't you be pleased if I divorced Luke? So many people are waiting for us to get divorced. The Miller family, Jasmine, Margaret, and even you, aren't you all hoping for it?" Elsa actually smiled.

She had always been well-behaved and didn't offend others, but that didn't necessarily protect her.

She had always targeted only the Miller family, but there were many who couldn't stand to see her happy!

"No, I admit, at first, I was very much against you and Luke being together," Terry cleared his throat awkwardly. "But later, I saw the genuine feelings you had for each other."

Elsa was silent for a moment.

"I believe Luke's feelings for me are genuine, and the moments when I loved him or he loved me were real." She stated.

"But I'm tired. My life shouldn't be wasted on meaningless things. Proving my marriage to others, sharing my man with other women, it disgusts me."

"There was no sharing, I was always only yours!" Luke explained hurrily.

If stabbing himself could make her feel better, Luke wished he could pull out a knife and stab himself in the heart!
