Chapter 160 Karida's Warning
Luke was already losing it, stressing out about Elsa back home. And now, seeing his best bud coming over to play peacemaker for his mom? No freaking way he was gonna stand for that.
Nobody could take Elsa from him!
"We couldn't just blow off your mom, so we came to have a talk to you. Just going through the motions," Karida quickly stood up, yanking Terry's sleeve to calm things down.
"Luke, we're outta here. If you need anything, just holler. I'm all for you and Elsa being together."
Before Terry could even blink, Karida had already dragged him out.
In the underground parking lot, Terry's face was dark with anger over what Luke had said earlier.
They had come in Karida's car, so she had to drive Terry back. It was a long haul from the Taylor Group to Terry's company. At first, both were dead silent.
As it got darker, Karida flicked on the headlights and cracked the window. Out of nowhere, she asked, "You've always pushed Luke to be with Margaret. Are you really doing it for his sake?"
"What do you mean?" The wind blowing in made Terry's tone even harsher.
"Last time, when Margaret had her stomach pumped and the nurse found love marks all over her body. I don't think Luke did that," Karida said, pulling over and staring Terry down.
Terry rolled down his window, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it.
"Want one?" he asked Karida with his eyes.
Karida shook her head slightly.
Another silence followed.
After finishing his cigarette, Terry suddenly spoke quietly, "I used to like Margaret too."
Karida said nothing, waiting for him to spill more.
A few months ago, Margaret walked in on Luke and Elsa getting cozy in the office. She ran out crying and immediately hit up Terry.
"I want to drink. Can you keep me company?" Margaret said all pitiful, and Terry couldn't say no.
They drank a ton, and eventually, Margaret ended up in Terry's lap.
"All these years, I've always known you liked me," she said bluntly, her hands wandering.
Terry's mind went blank.
The pure and innocent Margaret in his mind turned out to be like this in private! She knew everything but could face him so calmly all these years!
Who would have thought he would end up being Margaret's lapdog?
He controlled himself, placing his hand on Margaret's shoulder, his eyes turning cold. "So what?"
"I'll sleep with you if you help me get Luke. Deal?" Margaret said.
That night, Terry had Margaret. But he pushed her out of his heart.
They hooked up in the hotel for four or five hours. Terry then realized that Margaret wasn't drunk at all.
He said coldly while putting on his pants, "Drink some more, or I'll blow our cover when I contact Luke." He called the waiter to bring another bottle of strong liquor.
Margaret, seen through by Terry, didn't show any embarrassment. She calmly drank the liquor.
At that moment, Terry felt a physical revulsion. Margaret wasn't worth his years of protection!
That night, Terry called Luke. As for the media, it was naturally his doing!
Karida listened silently as Terry finished his story.
"You're a bastard!" She grabbed his collar. "You and Margaret are both adults. No one cares if you mess around. But pushing a woman you've slept with towards Luke, how can you face Luke!"
She raised her fist and punched Terry in the face.
Terry's nose started bleeding.
"I was out of my mind that day," Terry said nonchalantly, wiping his nose with the back of his hand.
Karida retorted, "You were out of your mind that day, but what about today? I was just trying to save face for Luke's mom, but you seem genuinely ready to persuade Luke to divorce and marry Margaret! Terry, are you planning to enjoy sex with Margaret even more if she becomes Luke's wife?"
Karida threw another punch, but Terry didn't dodge. Karida's fist veered off course and hit the seat behind him.
She uttered, "I won't tell Luke about this, but you better watch yourself!"
Karida left Terry on the side of the road and stormed off.
Terry stood in the cold autumn wind and lit another cigarette.
Just then, a message from Margaret popped up on his Facebook.
Margaret: [Terry, how did it go?]
Terry: [Margaret, did you ever love me?]
Margaret: [Of course I did. I insist on marrying Luke only because my father wants to see us together before he dies. Even if we get married, we can still have sex.]
Terry laughed in anger at Margaret's words.
If Margaret had said she never loved him and only used him to help her marry into the Taylor family, he might have respected her a bit. But she could say such things to trample on his feelings.
Terry: [Let's meet at the hotel. I'll tell you the result in person.]
