Chapter 309 Margaret's New Feed

"What does this mean?"

Heart Whisper Day is coming soon.

Margaret, in order to attract Luke's attention, specifically studied Elsa's makeup and outfit. She has always been proud, but now she is willing to lower herself to learn from Elsa, which shows her desperation.

Today, Luke complimented her on her looks and even stared at her face in a daze. Margaret's heart was racing, and her face turned red.

Luke maintained his usual calm demeanor. "It doesn't mean anything. Fall is here, so I got you a little gift."

He had bought the necklace casually from a downstairs counter when he arrived, taking no more than five minutes from entering to swiping his card.

In the past, when they were close, Luke often gave Margaret small gifts. But those days had almost disappeared after she got married, and divorced, and Elsa appeared.

It seemed that Luke had finally given up on Elsa and was ready to develop further with her.

Happiness came so suddenly that Margaret's breathing became rapid.

"When I saw your selfies, your neck looked bare. You can wear this from now on." This sentence was almost equivalent to telling Margaret that she could tell others the necklace was from him, and Margaret understood.

"Okay, I love it so much. Thank you, Luke!" Margaret reached across the table and hugged Luke.

"Receiving gifts is one of the happiest things in the world! Thank you, Luke."

Margaret took eight photos of the necklace, which cost less than thirty thousand dollars, along with its packaging from various angles, and posted a selfie wearing the necklace on her New Feed.

Elsa, who rarely posted or checked New Feed, happened to see it and felt a pang in her heart.

In that selfie, Luke's half-face was visible in the background, looking at Margaret with a loving expression.

She shouldn't feel heartache; she was the one who repeatedly pushed him away when he wanted to reconcile.

That night, Elsa had a rare bout of insomnia.

She turned off the lights and stared into the darkness, feeling like she couldn't breathe.

Her marriage to Luke was due to her proactive efforts. When she relaxed, fate took its course, gradually pushing them apart.

She had come this far and could never go back.

Around two in the morning, Elsa couldn't take it anymore. She got up and found her old antidepressants. Despite enduring a week of online abuse without showing signs of illness, seeing Margaret's New Feed made her feel like she was about to relapse.

The antidepressants had a sedative effect, and she finally fell asleep groggily as dawn approached.

Her dreams were filled with Luke.

The way he got his hand caught in the door, the way he kicked over a chair in anger, the way he looked at Margaret with affection.

"You don't want me anymore."

"Elsa, you were the one who didn't want me first," Luke sneered.

In the dream, Luke even personally put the necklace on Margaret, just like he had put on the necklace she designed.

When she woke up, her pillow was wet. Elsa looked out the window and smiled bitterly.

You won't reconcile with Luke, but you don't want him to find someone else? Elsa, how hypocritical can you be?

She had slept for a long time, and it was already noon when she woke up. Fortunately, it was Saturday, and she didn't have to go to work.

Elsa picked up her phone and saw messages from Leo: "Come racing with me."

"Please, come on."

"Are you dead asleep? Why aren't you responding?"

Followed by a frustrated emoji.

Leo, with his personality, could still create an image of being antisocial in front of others. Leo was quite the actor.

Elsa thought of Margaret's New Feed and still felt a pang in her heart.

"Okay, I'll go. Let me get ready." She needed to get out and clear her mind.
