Chapter 262 Chloe and Elsa's First Meeting

Elsa had been back from the villa for a few days.

The police politely showed their badges at the door. "Ms. Miller, please come with us."

Elsa nodded and calmly extended her hands, allowing them to cuff her.

The lead officer was surprised by Elsa's composure. "Ms. Miller, aren't you afraid?"

Elsa smiled faintly. "The electricity card for my apartment ran out of money yesterday, but I didn't recharge it."

"You were prepared."

"Sort of."

She was indeed mentally prepared for this. She would tell the truth. The only thing she needed to hide was the well-intentioned help she had received from Chloe, George, Brian, and Luke.

Luring David into smuggling was a charge that could be either serious or minor. She would take the blame. Then those who had supported her in specific incidents should be left out of it.

Chloe had activated the long-unused surveillance at Elsa's apartment entrance. The surveillance system would emit a sound whenever someone passed by the door.

Chloe had just arrived at the Diamond Crest Clubhouse to hold a meeting when she heard the surveillance alert. She watched as Elsa, with a calm demeanor, was handcuffed and taken away by the police.

Elsa clearly wanted to keep her out of it, but she couldn't witness her to be in the jail.

When the public prosecution opened, she could find a lawyer for her. That was all she could do.

Chloe, lost in her thoughts, went to the bar in the evening and grabbed two bottles of alcohol to drink. In her drunken haze, she recalled her first meeting with Elsa.

It was a summer night eleven years ago. She had just returned home earlier than Patrick and Abigail from her grandfather Daniel Clark's birthday banquet, holding her pocket money and grinning from ear to ear.

Just after she passed the first block, she was cornered at the street corner.

"Hey, we want to borrow some money." It was two well-known bullies among the students. Chloe had seen their photos in the anti-bullying handbook given out by the teachers. One of them had a two-inch scar on his left cheek, which left a deep impression on her.

Chloe had never seen such a scene. She was so scared that she trembled.

Her legs were too weak. She could only cry and hand over her pocket money, closing her eyes in fear.

"You dare to rob Harold Turner's sister?" A clear, angry shout followed, and the pocket money was shoved back into her hand.

Chloe opened her eyes to see Elsa, half a head shorter than her, with short hair and big eyes, standing in front of her with her hands on her hips.

Skinny, yet pretty and spirited—that were Chloe's first impression of her.

Chloe's school was the best elementary school in the city, with students either noble children like Chloe or top students from average families, heavily recruited by the school to boost its graduation rates.

Elsa, wearing her school uniform skirt even on weekends and with canvas shoes so old they had turned white, was clearly the latter.

Harold was another well-known local bully.

"Where's Harold? Call Harold." Elsa turned to Chloe. "Isn't this Harold's turf?"

Chloe, too frightened, was in a daze. She didn't know Harold at all.

"I advise you to mind your own business!" The bully walked towards Elsa, threatening to make a move.
