Chapter 296 Luke Catches the Adultery
In fact, Elsa had no reaction.
"Aren't you afraid they might actually get together?" Chloe asked.
"We're already divorced. Whoever Luke is with is his business. How am I any different from Margaret if I try to win Luke back now?" Elsa spoke her mind. Once she made a decision, she didn't plan on looking back.
However, she couldn't help but feel a pang in her heart when she remembered Luke's words, "I won't let go of you."
Men's promises were so easily made and quickly forgotten. Elsa suddenly recalled a wise saying, "For a woman to forget a man, she needs time and another man. For a man, he just needs another woman."
Margaret had been pursuing him closely, so it was normal for her to become Luke's girlfriend at this point.
Thinking about this was pointless. She had already left. Although it wasn't very dignified for Luke to have a girlfriend right after the divorce, it had nothing to do with her.
"Elsa, have you been too scared to go out lately? All my efforts to help the family release a statement overnight were rewarded. Now you've lost everything! And Luke is rekindling his old feelings with Margaret."
In the middle of the night, Jasmine got Elsa's phone number and called to mock her. She had just been stripped of her shares by Luke and was venting her anger on Elsa.
Elsa knew it was Jasmine stirring things up.
The article starting by accusing her of seducing Jonny, Elsa felt it was definitely related to Jasmine!
Elsa's eyes darkened, and she let out a cold smile. "It doesn't matter, Ms. Taylor. I don't like Luke anymore. I like Jonny, and he's right here with me. Do you want to talk to him?"
"Are you saying Jonny is with you right now?" Jasmine lost her composure.
Elsa deliberately softened her tone. "Jonny, do you want to talk to Jasmine?"
Jasmine held her breath.
"Just say a few words to her. After all, she likes you so much," Elsa said gently.
After a while, Elsa said with a bit of embarrassment, "Jonny is too tired and doesn't want to talk to you. Sorry, Ms. Taylor."
At first, Jasmine didn't believe it. "Elsa, stop trying to trick me!"
Elsa smirked. "Why would I lie to you? Jonny is not only sleeping next to me, but he also turned off his phone. If you don't believe me, try calling him."
Jonny had mentioned his habit of turning off his phone when he slept.
Jasmine hung up. Not long after, she called back, screaming, "Elsa, you shameless woman! How can you two be together so late at night!"
"Ms. Taylor, Jonny and I are both single. Why can't we be together? What right do you have to interfere? It's ridiculous."
Elsa hung up the phone amidst Jasmine's hysteria, almost laughing out loud. Jasmine was too stupid to believe that. At least she had vented her anger.
After hanging up, Elsa sat on the bed, hugging her knees, unable to sleep.
Leo remained silent as if nothing had happened, but it didn't matter what he said at this point.
All the attention was focused on her, and she hadn't left the house for several days.
Although rumors would eventually die down, it would be best to have something else come up to divert the public's attention. But she couldn't figure out what could shift the focus.
The doorbell rang outside.
Could it be that Jasmine was so angry she came over?
Elsa grabbed a wine bottle and went to open the door.
It was Luke, who was still in his pajamas.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Seeing Luke, the thoughts Elsa had just managed to sort out became a mess again, but she maintained a calm and disdainful facade.
Luke, however, brushed past her and barged into the room.
He was furious, searching every corner of her house.
"Are you crazy? Get out!" Elsa understood his intention and pulled at his sleeve to push him out.
"Elsa, where's Jonny?" Luke's eyes were bloodshot with jealousy. He held Elsa's shoulders, trying hard to suppress his emotions, but his chest was still heaving violently.
"He just left. You've been here just long enough for me to clean up the scene." She was furious inside but lied with an unusually calm face.
He could rekindle his old feelings with Margaret, but he still wanted to control who she was with!
