Chapter 127 Joe Collins Sick?
The car had just peeled out from the Collins' place when, outta nowhere, a blue Bugatti screeched in, cutting off Luke's ride with a sharp right turn.
"Margaret, have you lost your damn mind?!" Luke yelled as he slammed the brakes, making the car lurch.
"If you leave today, you'll have to run me over first!" Margaret jumped out of her car and planted herself in front of Luke's, looking like she was ready to play chicken with her life.
Luke frowned, got out, and irritably lit a cigarette. "Margaret, don't make this a mess. You can't force feelings."
"But Luke, you used to like me! Elsa weaseled her way in, and she's not good enough for you!" Margaret stubbornly grabbed Luke's coat, her eyes red, standing pitifully in the chilly autumn wind.
"That was then. People change," Luke sighed.
"No, you're just under Elsa's spell! That witch!" Margaret started ranting, about to throw herself into Luke's arms.
Luke grabbed her arm and said, "Margaret, I don't wanna hear anyone trash-talking Elsa. She's my wife. Insulting her is like picking a fight with me."
Luke's eyes were cold, and he gave off a chilling vibe. Margaret, snapped out of her jealousy-fueled rage, finally calmed down.
"I'm sorry, Luke," Margaret lowered her eyes, defeated.
She had thought Luke had no real feelings for Elsa, just like the rumors said. But after spending time with him, she realized that wasn't true. Luke's feelings for Elsa were on a whole different level.
"There won't be a next time, Margaret. I'm outta here." Luke took a deep drag, stubbed out his cigarette on the ground, and walked past their cars, ready to leave.
"Luke, I'm sorry. I just love you too much. I'm jealous that Elsa has you. For my dad's sake, can we at least finish this meal?" Margaret rushed over and hugged him from behind as he walked away.
"Margaret, don't drag Uncle Joe into this." Luke's patience was wearing thin, and he barely held back from pushing her away.
"I'm not lying! My dad went to the hospital a few days ago, and they found a tumor in his kidney. The doc said it's probably malignant!" Margaret pulled out a medical report on her phone to show Luke.
"My dad hasn't said anything, but he must've guessed. He's been pushing you to stay with me 'cause he's worried about me being alone." Margaret started crying.
Luke was getting more and more irritated by her tears. "Why haven't I heard Karida mention this?" he questioned.
"It wasn't at Valley of Hope Hospital for the check-up, it was at another hospital." Margaret seemed to muster all her strength to stop crying. "Luke, for the sake of our families' friendship, please finish this meal before you go."
Elsa got home from the airport at 10 PM, and Luke still wasn't back. She called, but no one picked up.
Was Luke still at the Collins' place?
On a whim, Elsa clicked on Margaret's profile in the work group and checked her Facebook.
