Chapter 22 David's Visit

"I've already entered twice even though I wasn't allowed in." Elsa was slapped but she wasn’t angry. Debbie was the elder, and Luke was indeed innocent, so she didn't want to confront them. "I give you two days to leave Maplewood City, or don't blame me for being unkind to you." Debbie looked at Elsa's indifferent expression, growing angrier, and was about to raise her hand to strike again. "I won't leave. If you want me to go out, you might as well kill me." Elsa grabbed Debbie's wrist, fearless. Pain on her face was nothing compared to the loss of her mother, nothing could hurt her anymore.
"You should know that if the Taylors wants you die, it’s as easy as squashing an ant." But Debbie was intimidated by her demeanor, weakening a bit. "No problem," Elsa said, and left, wearing Luke's pajamas.
"Debbie, thanks to you, I'm so afraid that Luke will fall into the trap of this wicked woman." Karen looked at Debbie pitifully, looking grateful.
"This is Rhys's arranged engagement, and I am supposed to do this." Debbie handed a handkerchief to Karen to wipe her tears, then added, "Karen, go home and get the pink diamond necklace Rhys gave to the Miller family. When Luke sees the token, he might reconsider."
Mentioning the necklace made Karen anxious. She didn't have the pink diamond which had always been in Leslie's possession. If Leslie agreed to hand over the necklace, she wouldn't have fallen into the dilemma.

Luke was listening to the sales director's report when Karida called. "Luke, are you kidding me? No one's home, and you want me to come over to give her an IV?" Karida’s voice sounded frustrated.” Had Elsa left? He left a note but she still went away. She was becoming more disobedient.” He muttered. He checked the surveillance playback on his phone to see when Elsa left. The footage showed his mother and Karen entering half an hour ago. He saw his mother raising her hand towards Elsa and Karen looking somewhat conceited. It was weird how this fearless woman, Elsa, just accepted being hit. Elsa seemed to have a streak of bad luck recently because Jonny just had hit her on the left side of her face two days ago, and today, her mother hit her on the right side.
Luke instinctively dialed Elsa's number. "Hello, who is this?" The voice on the other end was calm and composed, not like someone who had just been humiliated and slapped. Luke suddenly didn't know what to say. "Hello?" Elsa said again. Luke remained silent and hung up. He couldn't treat this woman like an ordinary person. If he took the initiative to go to court with her this time, she would surely be smug, more audacious in the future. He had to wait for her to speak first. If she brought it up, he wouldn't refuse.

Elsa's residence was far from Luke's villa. She was in a taxi when Luke called, and it took another fifteen minutes for her to arrive home.
A figure was waiting by her door, rushing towards her as she approached. "Elsa! You're back." The fawning voice made Elsa felt uneasy.
"Who are you?" Elsa raised an eyebrow with unfriendly tone. "Elsa, I'm your dad. How come you don't even recognize me?" David smiled. He was taller than Elsa but much friendlier. "Was he the dad who kicked the pregnant mom out of the house? Was he the dad who turned a blind eye, letting his mistress and daughter drive my mom to death? Was he the dad who usually spent thousands on a dinner with clients while didn’t even give 200 dollars a month for the two children?" Elsa sneered, stepping closer.
"David, how do you have the nerve to show up?" Elsa hadn't seen David in real life for years, only in financial magazines. The word "dad" made her sick. "Elsa, I had my reasons," David looked embarrassed but still tried to explain.
"If you have something to say, say it quickly; if not, please leave," Elsa leaned against the wall with arms crossed, showing impatience. "Elsa, everyone knows that Karen and Luke are about to get married. Now that Luke suddenly wants to call it off, it's not good for the entire Miller family. No matter how much you hate me, you actually have the blood of the Miller family. You can't just stand by and watch the Miller family fall apart." David finally explained his purpose, trying to justify his actions.
