Chapter 398 Exercise Before Bed

When Elsa arrived at Luke's villa, the night guard was surprised.

"Mrs. Taylor, what brings you here?"

She wasn't the lady of the house anymore, but there was no point in explaining that.

Elsa smiled. "I'm here to see Luke."

"Hey, babe," Luke had already come out.

He stood in the cold winter night wearing silk pajamas. The courtyard lights didn't clearly illuminate his features, but his tall, straight figure and broad shoulders made one want to lean on him.

So Elsa did just that. She ran over and wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her head on his chest.

Luke, softened by her rare initiative, scooped her up in his arms.

"I need to talk to you," Elsa said, her breathing a bit hurried in Luke's embrace.

It was clear she was excited, wide awake in the middle of the night.

Luke strode inside, casually turning up the heat with the smart thermostat.

There had been many times before their marriage when Luke had carried her into the house like this. The memory stirred something in both of them.

"It's so late, why are you coming from the King family?" Luke asked, placing Elsa on the couch. It was late, and Lisa was already asleep. He personally made her a cup of coffee, slightly displeased by the smell of alcohol on her.

Elsa didn't rush to speak.

She curled up on the couch, sipping her coffee, her back against the cushions, eyes half-closed. The steam rose, blurring her features in the mist.

Luke watched Elsa's lazy demeanor, feeling a tickle in his heart. He took off her shoes, placed her feet on the couch, and covered her with a light blanket.

After a few sips, Elsa looked at Luke, her eyes sparkling. "Jonathan is my uncle, my mom's younger brother."

The news took Luke aback.

"Really?"

"Yeah, I came to tell you this." Elsa pulled Luke to sit beside her and explained the whole story.

She showed him the paternity test results on her phone.

"After Mom passed, I thought it was just Vincent and me against the world. I never expected to have a grandmother, an uncle, and a cousin," she said, her voice choked with emotion. I'm so lucky, Luke."

Elsa's eyes and nose were red, her eyes shining with a long-lost vitality and joy.

"Uncle Jonathan is hosting a recognition ceremony for me next week. Will you come?" She held his hand, inviting him earnestly.

"Of course." Luke kissed her hand.

He had to go. If he had known Jonathan was Elsa's uncle, he would have been more attentive. Now, he wondered if the King family would try to interfere. Luke felt a bit annoyed at the thought.

"That's all. I just wanted to tell you. Goodnight."

Having said everything she needed to, Elsa felt it would be awkward to stay any longer.

She bent down to put on her shoes, ready to leave.

"Waking me up in the middle of the night and then just leaving?" Luke was displeased.

"Sorry. You said you weren't sleeping."

"I was just being polite."

"So what do you want me to do?" Elsa was at a loss.

"I can't sleep now, babe. I need some exercise before bed," Luke said, teasingly.

Elsa pursed her lips, not saying a word, her face turning red from her cheeks to her ears, but she didn't move.

"I meant doing some planks. What were you thinking?" Luke leaned in to tease her.

Elsa quickly got up to leave. "Then go ahead. I'll make it up to you another day."

Embarrassed, she stomped her foot, eager to get outside and clear her head. What was she thinking just now?

Luke watched Elsa's embarrassed expression, his breath heavy. He couldn't hold back any longer and scooped her up in his arms.
