Chapter 457 What Are You Thinking, Chloe

At Chloe's grandfather's birthday party, everyone was from the Clark family except for Jonathan and Elsa.

Chloe only had two uncles, who were the fathers of her cousin Terry and cousin Yvonne, respectively. Both uncles and Chloe's father were seasoned businessmen who all knew Jonathan.

When they sat together, they quickly warmed up to each other.

After a few rounds of drinks, Chloe's father remembered his mission and hurriedly brought the three younger generation members over to meet Jonathan.

Terry had dealt with Jonathan before. Last time, he got a big project from Jonathan for blocking sulfuric acid meant for Elsa, so naturally, they were extra polite when they met.

Yvonne was Terry and Chloe's older cousin, meeting Jonathan for the first time.

"Mr. King, this is my daughter, Yvonne. She has a postdoctoral degree in architecture and is now a professor at the local university." Yvonne's father pulled her over to introduce her to Jonathan.

Jonathan was 40 years old but looked 30, lean and refined, with gentle eyes that hid his sharpness. Sitting there, he had a completely different vibe from the Clark family elders—his manner was clear and almost otherworldly.

Yvonne, as a university professor, wore a moon-white Chanel-style suit with her hair casually pinned up. Behind her gold-rimmed glasses were wise and kind eyes. This 30-year-old intellectual beauty would earn anyone's praise for being extraordinary.

"Ms. Yvonne Clark, truly talented and beautiful, with such refined taste. Pleasure to meet you." Jonathan politely raised his glass. "I also studied architecture, which is why I later founded Prosperous Abundance Group."

"Mr. King is too kind. They say men who study architecture have the best spatial thinking. Always dealing with construction, they're more down-to-earth and steady than most. I didn't notice it with my classmates and colleagues, but Mr. King certainly fits the description." Yvonne's fair face flushed slightly, though her tone remained calm and steady.

Highly educated women had a way of complimenting people that feels refreshing.

"You're too kind." Jonathan nodded, clearly pleased.

"Mr. King, Yvonne is also single," Chloe's father said.

This statement was loaded with meaning, clearly trying to set them up. Even Elsa from afar couldn't help but look over.

Jonathan smiled calmly, "The emperor's daughter never worries about marriage, let alone someone as outstanding as Ms. Yvonne Clark. She must have many admirers and should take her time choosing."

This response was tactful and could go either way.

"I find them vulgar. Mr. King, on the other hand, is not." Yvonne's words were bold, but she looked so composed that it didn't seem flirtatious at all.

"For someone as outstanding as Ms. Clark to think well of me is truly an honor." Jonathan didn't let her words fall flat, returning the compliment naturally.

The Clark family elders exchanged glances, as if already imagining the two's wedding.

Hearing Jonathan's words, Chloe rolled her eyes behind Yvonne.

What did he say when he first met her?

"I've long heard that the owner of this club is a beauty, didn't expect someone so young."

So this guy talked the same way to every woman.

He just had high emotional intelligence and knew how to chat, but he's not sincere!

While she was lost in these thoughts, Yvonne gently tugged her, "What are you thinking about? Mr. King is calling you."

Chloe suddenly looked up, meeting Jonathan's eyes full of affectionate amusement.

"Mr. King." Chloe felt uncomfortable under his gaze and greeted him stiffly.

"What were you thinking about, Chloe?" Jonathan chuckled softly.

This "Chloe" sounded so familiar and intimate that everyone present couldn't help but freeze. Didn't they say they barely knew each other?
