Chapter 190 David, get to the point

David was genuinely scared.

In the past, no matter how much Elsa acted out, he always thought she was just a kid. Even if she was a bit more intense than other kids, she couldn't cause too much trouble. But now, the Miller family had taken some serious hits because of Elsa. If this kept up, like Karen had warned, the Miller family would be done for.

David sat on the couch for hours, from day to night. As dawn broke, he finally had a plan.

He asked the servant to whip up a fruit platter and took it upstairs.

The light in Karen's room was still on, meaning she hadn't slept either.

"Sweetie, you and Dad are family. It's my fault for not being able to protect you and Mom. For all the years I've raised you, please forgive me this time. I need your help to make a decision. You can't just watch the Miller family fall apart, right?"

Karen got it.

She opened the door with red eyes and then sat back on the bed.

"That's more like it," David said.

Seeing his daughter give in, David quickly walked into the room, grinning so wide his eyes crinkled. "I've got an idea. See if you think it'll work."

David's plan had two parts. First, going head-to-head with Elsa in their current state was a dead end. Better to swallow their pride and try to win her over. Blood is thicker than water, right? They might even get on her good side.

Second, the Jones family was out for now, but they could try the Collins family.

Joe was in the late stages of cancer. If Margaret wanted to take charge, she'd need a powerful family to team up with.

Even though the Miller family was pretty much a shell, not many people knew that. Margaret might not know either. They had some leverage over her, so they could ask her to put in a good word with Joe and throw some business their way. There might still be a glimmer of hope.

"If we can land one or two more deals, we can definitely make it," David said.

"Sweetie, one day, you'll be the head of the Miller family. You have to endure this temporary hardship for your future happiness."

Hearing David's words, Karen's expression finally softened a bit. She sat on the edge of the bed in silence for a long time before saying, "I can't win Elsa over. I'll try to handle Margaret, but you have to deal with Elsa."

"Of course," David quickly agreed.

Elsa didn't give David a chance to talk on the phone and was always with Luke. David had been waiting for a long time but couldn't find an opportunity.

Until one day, Elsa came back from meeting a client with the sales team and got blocked at the elevator entrance in the underground parking lot.

"Elsa, just got back from meeting a client? How've you been?" David asked.

"Elsa, who is he?" Quinn Harper asked in a low voice, eyeing the fawning David. "Need me to call security?"

Elsa didn't want her family drama to go public, so she shook her head slightly. "You go upstairs first. I'll handle this."

Quinn reluctantly left. Elsa crossed her arms, looking at David with a half-smile.

"Mr. Miller, are you moonlighting as a parking lot attendant for the Taylor Group? HR must've messed up not giving you a security uniform."

Elsa had felt like someone was following her for the past few days. Guess she wasn't wrong.

"Elsa, what are you saying? I'm here to talk to you."

David felt humiliated but still forced a smile.

"Got time? I want to buy you a cup of coffee."

"David, get to the point," Elsa said impatiently, frowning and about to leave.

"Elsa, I admit I was wrong before, favoring Karen too much. I've thought about it, and from now on, I promise to cherish you and Vincent. Is that okay?"

David hurriedly blocked Elsa and took out a small box from his pocket.

"Remember how your mom threatened to sacrifice everything for this? Well, it's yours now. From now on, let's get along."

Elsa felt her mind go blank.
