Chapter 207 Quarrel

"None of your business."

Elsa shot Luke a cold look, her face like ice. "You and Jasmine tested me, dragged my name and Jonny's through the mud. If I don't make the accusation real, wouldn't I be the fool?"

She dropped the sweet tone she used with Jonny, her voice now flat and emotionless.

Luke frowned. "I wasn't trying to test you; I only found out when I got to the hospital."

"Really?" Elsa smirked. "Did you get what you wanted? Feeling good now?"

"This isn't what I wanted," Luke said.

"Then what do you want from me? You expect me to act like nothing happened? Luke, you took care of Joe when he had cancer, but I can't visit Jonny after his car accident? That's a double standard." Elsa's voice was full of disappointment.

"Talk to me properly," Luke moved closer, trying to wrap his arm around her waist.

Elsa pulled away, hitting her leg on the table with a dull thud.

"Where did you hit yourself? Come here, let me see." Luke was startled and tried to pull her into his arms.

"No need. I don't want to see you today." Elsa, her anger flaring from the pain, shot Luke a glare before heading upstairs.

Lisa watched the awkward scene from the side, only breathing a sigh of relief when Elsa went upstairs.

"Ms. Miller, can't you and Mr. Taylor just talk it out? You two have such a good relationship," Lisa said, following Elsa upstairs.

"I'm not backing down on this. I'm sleeping in the guest room tonight," Elsa said, loud enough for Luke to hear.

"No need, you sleep in the master bedroom. I'll sleep out tonight!" Luke shouted back.

The roar of an engine signaled Luke's departure.

"Mr. Taylor hasn't even eaten," Lisa couldn't help but say as she looked downstairs.

"Don't worry about him," Elsa was still fuming, feeling incredibly wronged. Jonny was her friend. When a friend was in trouble, she went to the hospital to see him. What's wrong with that?

'If Luke doesn't apologize properly for this, I won't forgive him,' Elsa thought angrily.

At the bar.

Watching Luke down drink after drink, Terry and Karida exchanged glances, not daring to intervene.

Earlier, Luke had sent Jasmine a message, urging her to apologize to Elsa. Jasmine, however, remained stubborn and retaliated with evidence of Jonny pulling some strings to get a new advisor years ago, further souring Luke's mood.

Jonny's actions were so obvious; Elsa must know that Jonny liked her.

Considering all the help Jonny had given Elsa, Luke was consumed with jealousy.

Elsa knew it all but still accepted Jonny's kindness without any guilt.

"Actually, Jonny's feelings are his problem, not hers. It's your testing that might push her away," Karida, who admired Elsa, spoke up for her.

"Are you planning to divorce?" Terry, who had been silent for a long time, asked the same question as Karida.

Luke, holding a glass, stopped drinking and looked up from behind the glass.

The murderous look in Luke's eyes made Terry's hair stand on end. "I mean, if you're not divorcing, you need to talk things out. This silent treatment isn't healthy."

Luke downed the drink in his glass.

"Stop talking nonsense and drink," Luke said.

They drank until late at night, with most of two bottles of whiskey going into Luke's stomach.

He was already quite drunk and ordered two more bottles, drinking one and a half by himself.

"Luke, what a coincidence!" Suddenly, Margaret stood in front of them, smiling brightly.
