Chapter 259 Took Another Look at Him
"When are you leaving?" Vincent asked her.
Chloe had asked several times as well. With David in prison, the Miller family couldn't possibly do anything bad anymore. Leaving Karen alone outside was enough revenge.
Elsa should have gone back to school by now.
That day, Chloe came over with a new VR headset to see Vincent and asked again. Elsa simply said, "I'm not in a hurry."
She felt that the Miller family must have some backup plan.
"Do you think the Miller family will come after you?" Chloe suddenly widened her eyes at her mid-sentence.
At that moment, Vincent was wearing the VR headset, shouting in amazement at the 5D effects.
She nodded. Then Elsa shook her head, signaling her not to say anything. For a moment, they both felt a bit sad.
"I'll take good care of Vincent," Chloe suddenly said in a low voice, her eyes reddening as she was about to leave.
Elsa held her arm, feeling a surge of warmth. They exchanged a glance but said nothing.
She was no longer afraid of going to prison. Since the day she decided to take revenge, she had been prepared to pay any price, including her life.
After sending Vincent back to the care facility, Elsa planned to pay for two years in advance.
"Your husband Luke has already prepaid enough for Vincent's care until he's eighty," the facility manager said.
Settling accounts with Luke was not easy; no matter how she calculated, she always seemed to be at a disadvantage.
The office building's sales contract had gone silent after signing.
Since getting the divorce certificate, she had completely lost contact with Luke.
She set permisssion of her social media, hiding the one about their marriage, while Luke never posted anything. She had no idea what he was up to. Luke was like a beautiful dream she once had.
In the middle of the night, she no longer dreamed of Leslie, but she did dream of Luke a few times. Waking up from those dreams, she would feel disoriented lying in her apartment bed.
When she returned to her place, the young security guard at the entrance greeted her for the first time. "Are you Ms. Miller from 508?"
After Elsa responded, the young guard said, "A few police officers came by earlier asking about your residence."
What was meant to come had come!
A chill spread from her feet to her head, but Elsa remained calm and smiled. "They're here to verify temporary residence permits. They probably just wanted to confirm with me."
Once she went to prison, it would be hard to get a reduced sentence. She didn't know when she would be out.
All her things were at the villa. Using this excuse to see Luke one more time shouldn't be too much.
Elsa returned home, paced back and forth for a long time, and finally called Luke.
She had always acted rationally over the years. This was the first time she acted on impulse.
"Can I go to the villa to pack my things?" After not hearing his voice for more than half a month, Elsa's heartbeat was loud in her ears, but she remained as calm as ever.
Luke was very calm. "Of course."
"Are you home?"
"Do you want me to be or not?"
