Chapter 328 Luke, I Won't Give Up

Jonathan's story is far more exciting than what he revealed to Elsa.

If Elsa were willing to dig deeper, she would find that their growth paths were almost identical.

Even Brian. The person Brian mentioned who helped him get into the "glove" business was Jonathan.

The difference was, Luke knew from the beginning that Elsa didn't love him, but gradually developed feelings for her later. On the other hand, Jonathan and Whitney were deeply in love, but their relationship began to crack when they got what they wanted. Whitney thought everything he did was just to use her, believing she was a tool for Jonathan's revenge.

"I succeeded in my revenge but lost her. It's the greatest regret of my life," Jonathan said, his eyes filled with tenderness and sorrow.

"Misunderstandings can be explained."

"But she passed away. A month after our spiteful divorce, she had a car accident."

It was truly a sad story, and Elsa's eyes reddened with tears.

She had heard from Eric that Jonathan and Whitney divorced when he was very young, and he had been living with Jonathan, never seeing Whitney. She had always wondered why Jonathan hadn't remarried all these years.

Was he afraid a new wife would mistreat Eric? Impossible. In a family like his, there would be plenty of women willing to be a stepmother, and to please him, they wouldn't dare treat Eric poorly.

Moreover, in such a family, there were plenty of servants, and a female head of the household wouldn't need to personally take care of the child.

Jonathan had been single for over a decade, simply because he still had unresolved feelings for his ex-wife.

Chloe had lost from the very beginning. How could she compete with someone who had passed away?

"I will try to persuade her," Elsa said quietly.

"You can also tell my story to Chloe," Jonathan took a deep breath. "You know, it's hard for me to speak to such a deeply affectionate and beautiful girl."

Elsa felt the weight of the responsibility and nodded solemnly. After a long pause, she said, "Alright."

If it could help Chloe move on from this unsuitable relationship, she was willing to be the bad guy.

Luke left Elsa and went straight to the office.

As soon as he arrived at the Taylor Group building, he saw a pink car blocking the entrance.

Several security guards were negotiating, and when they saw Luke approaching, they stood in a line and saluted him.

A small head with a pink bow peeked out of the car—it was Hailey.

Hailey was indeed cute, but she was too straightforward, often coming over to block the entrance, which was a bit inappropriate.

Luke walked past her without a word.

"Mr. Taylor, why were you with Elsa early in the morning?" Hailey rushed over, her eyes red with anger.

Luke frowned in displeasure. "Ms. Phillips, I don't think I need to report my affairs to you."

Not getting a direct answer, Hailey was unhappy but still followed Luke into the office.

Luke let her follow without looking back.

He sat at his desk, dealing with accumulated documents, not speaking to Hailey. Hailey, bored, sat on the sofa, deliberately making noise.

"Did you spend the night together?" Seeing Luke look up at her, she quickly seized the opportunity to ask.

Luke raised an eyebrow. "Are you an adult?"

"Of course! I've been an adult for two months!" Hailey quickly replied.

Luke said, "I did spend the night at Elsa's place. Do you want to hear the details?"

Hailey thought Luke would offer some explanation, but she was surprised when he admitted it so openly.

"How can you still be entangled with your ex-wife while we're dating! And Elsa, that bad woman, she promised me she wouldn't contact you again!" Hailey was both ashamed and angry, her eyes reddening as she spoke without thinking.

"Ms. Phillips, we are not in a relationship, so how can there be talk of betrayal?" Luke was amused by her and looked at her calmly.

Initially, he thought Hailey was just a bit childish, though cute in her own way, so he gave her plenty of face. But today, he was annoyed and his tone became serious.

Hailey, with her special status, had never been treated so coldly by a man. Now, Luke's words left her at a loss for words, and she bit her lip, remaining silent.

Suppressing his temper, Luke patiently advised her again, "Ms. Phillips, I have some friendship with Ian, but we are not suitable. Don't waste your time on me; it's meaningless."

He had a meeting in the afternoon and didn't know if Hailey had listened, so he left his office first.

When Luke returned, Hailey was already gone.

"Luke, I won't give up," she had written a conspicuous message on his desk with lipstick.
