Chapter 112 The Jones Family Banquet

That day, Emily got roughed up by Luke's guys and was later dumped at the Miller family's doorstep.

Luke's message was clear: just because he didn't find anything on the Millers this time didn't mean they were off the hook. Dumping Emily there was a warning.

David and Phyllis were about to head out when they saw Emily, bruised and tied up, at their doorstep. They were stunned.

"Mr. White, what are you doing here?" David quickly untied Emily and had someone help her inside.

"Why am I here? Because of your daughter's 'good deeds'!" Emily, ignoring her filthy state, sprawled on the Miller family's couch and snapped, "Luke didn't kill me this time, but next time I might not be so lucky!"

Emily had instructed someone to send Vincent a fake picture, telling him that Elsa was dead, which was obviously Karen's idea.

Lying on the couch, Emily vented all her anger on David and Phyllis, demanding an explanation. David apologized profusely, barely managing to calm her down.

After Emily left, David and Phyllis discussed their next steps in the living room.

"It seems Luke has feelings for Elsa. This time he clearly wants to intimidate us. David, you need to think of something. We can't just watch our family fall apart!" For the first time, Phyllis looked panicked.

David frowned, his face dark with anger. He was always profit-driven, with no regard for family ties. With the Miller Group facing a massive loss and Elsa continually opposing him, he hated her even more. "I won't let Elsa off. If she disregards our father-daughter relationship, she can't blame me for being ruthless."

"By the way, Dylan is hosting a banquet tomorrow. I can take Karen there to try our luck," David added after some thought.

Dylan Jones was Jonny's father, the Maplewood City real estate tycoon with two wives.

The Miller family's main business was fire engineering, and partnering with real estate developers or the construction bureau was their major source of income.

The Miller family was grappling with a trust crisis following their bid with the Prosperous Abundance Group, which had tarnished their industry reputation. However, if the Jones family extended an olive branch and chose to cooperate with the Millers, they might still have a chance at recovery.

Jonny had been back for a while to familiarize himself with the Jones family business. There was a clear purpose for Dylan's banquet: to introduce Jonny, the long-lost heir, to the inner circle.

Dylan was known for his ruthless business tactics, but his messy relationships were often criticized.

His two wives were a result of Jonny's mother being exceptionally capable, which earned her a legitimate status. Dylan had many other mistresses who couldn't be seen in public.

"If you're taking Karen, be careful of Dylan's intentions!" Phyllis, despite her malicious nature, was still Karen's mother. Thinking of Dylan's character, she couldn't help but warn. Karen mingling with rich heirs was one thing, but if an older man like Dylan took an interest in her...

"Don't worry. Dylan has seen all kinds of women. He wouldn't be interested in Karen!" David said.

In fact, David had already calculated that if Dylan really wanted Karen in exchange for saving the Miller family's business, he would persuade Karen to make a temporary sacrifice.

To someone like David, love, marriage, and sex were all expendable in the face of profit.

Dylan's fickle nature meant Karen might not need to accompany him for long before he lost interest.

David hoped that Dylan would take a liking to Karen.
