Chapter 218 Brian's Fury

"I need a favor; do you know about 'glove'?" Elsa said, taking a sip of her drink to calm her nerves.

"Mr. Gonzalez, I wanted to ask you for help with something, and I thought we could negotiate a price. But now, I don't think any amount of money will convince you. So, I'm left with no other choice."

Brian's eyes flashed with irritation. "You're acting like you're negotiating with a prostitute. Actually, it's worse. I've been both a gigolo and a 'glove.'"

He let out a cold laugh and stood up.

"You're smart, but you did a stupid thing — rubbing salt in my wounds. Get out!"

Brian's dark past was something he kept hidden. Now that he was in high society, no one dared to bring it up.

"That's not what I meant, Mr. Gonzalez!" Elsa stood up to explain, but Brian had already stormed off.

With her plan falling apart, Elsa was momentarily at a loss.

On the 16th floor of the Taylor Group building, Luke was scrolling through Elsa's recent schedule, his expression unreadable.

In just three days, Elsa had made a name for herself in several major casinos in Stellaria City. Quite impressive.

Even though casinos didn't allow photos, his people had managed to snap plenty of her at the poker table.

In a red dress and with her golden hair, Elsa smiled softly, her eyes downcast. One hand held a cigar while the other placed chips to raise the stakes. She looked confident and strategic.

Even after just a few days apart, looking at the photos made Luke's heart race. Elsa was like a red rose, blooming brightly, impossible to ignore.

"Elsa is smart, beautiful, and ruthless. Anyone who faces her as an opponent is in for a tough time," Karida said, looking at Elsa's schedule in amazement after being called in by Luke.

"That's not the real her," Luke said, his face impassive, though his Adam's apple bobbed.

The real Elsa was a stubborn and insecure girl. Not many people knew that.

"What's with that look?" Karida teased. "By the way, why did you call me here?"

"Come with me to Stellaria City. Elsa almost succeeded. She needs our help."

Luke had casinos in Stellaria City, but his main business was in Maplewood City, and he had never dealt with Brian.

However, Karida's grandfather, George Price, and the Price Family were well-known for their casinos and fisheries in Stellaria City. Luke wanted to use Karida's connections to make things easier.

"I can agree to your request, but you know, George was just talking about you last time..." Karida said.

Luke smiled. "As long as Elsa gets what she wants, spending a day playing chess with George is no big deal."

"Why didn't you stop her from taking the risk?" Karida was incredulous.

"Do you really think she would have listened to me?" Luke said, helpless.

Elsa was right. If he tried to stop her, she'd find a way around him.

"What if something happens to her?" Karida asked.

"If something happens, I'll protect her. If I can't, I'll go with her," Luke replied.

"Luke, you're crazy," Karida said, deeply shocked.

Luke's feelings for Elsa were far stronger than Karida had realized. He was willing to stand behind her, protect her, support her, and be her fallback.

He wanted nothing in return, not even letting her know.

"If I remember correctly, you two are still in a cooling-off period, right?" Karida asked.

Luke didn't respond.
