Chapter 370 The Truth Emerges
Jonathan was a normal man; how could he possibly resist such teasing?
Love and desire were two different things.
Jonathan grabbed Chloe's left hand, untied the bow, then pulled her right hand behind her back and tied them together.
The dress wasn't taken off; one strap was pulled down to her elbow, exposing a large area of skin. The hem of the dress was pushed up to her waist, revealing her perfectly proportioned, long, and straight legs that were impossible to look away from.
Jonathan kissed his way down, watching the blush on Chloe's face deepen as she began to breathe heavily.
Her bound hands clenched into fists, nails digging into her flesh.
"Relax," Jonathan said, trying to pry open her hand, then kissed her neck.
"Don't you have a boyfriend? Why are you still so inexperienced?"
Chloe remained silent.
She and Oliver were no longer in contact.
But telling Jonathan this was pointless; he didn't love her and wouldn't care.
In the heat of the moment, Jonathan noticed Elsa's arm.
"What's this?" He reached out to remove it.
Chloe snapped out of her desire.
"Don't!"
Jonathan frowned at her.
"Don't." She looked tense, then realized she was overreacting and felt a bit dejected.
"Okay."
Jonathan didn't press the issue and kissed her moist lips.
Afterward, Jonathan went to the hotel balcony to smoke, then came back in and put on his jacket.
"Eric sprained his ankle; I have to go back," he said, with a hint of apology.
"Okay." Chloe didn't press the issue either, smiling and nodding.
It wasn't until the door closed that she dropped her smile, revealing a lonely expression.
Who didn't know that a woman trying to keep a man with her body was pathetic? But without doing this, she wouldn't even have a chance to develop further with him.
Investigating someone started with their financial transactions, which was Max's usual approach.
He printed out hundreds of pages of Margaret's financial details after she returned to the country, marking several suspicious transactions.
Margaret wasn't honest; at several key points, she had transferred money to the media, and Max had found them all.
The first time, she had Terry bring Luke out, bribing the media to create the illusion of rekindled romance.
The second time, she wrote an article under Elsa's name accusing Jasmine of throwing herself at Jonny, which infuriated Jasmine and almost caused Elsa to lose her baby.
The subsequent times were all during the online attacks on Elsa, paying for headlines that smeared her.
She wanted to replace Elsa; although her methods were despicable, they were understandable.
"Is there anything else?" Luke asked.
"Yes." Max pointed out the places circled in red pen to Luke.
"This transaction was Margaret supporting Karen last year."
That was when the Miller family lost the Jones family project and was at a dead end.
"And these two transactions were both to the same person: Timothy Sanders, the mob boss in Maplewood City." One was last month, and the other was on the day Joe died.
Under what circumstances would Margaret need to transfer money to Timothy Sanders? Other than hiring a hitman, Luke couldn't think of anything else.
What happened around the time of last month's transaction? Ah, Hailey's car accident.
He had thought it was Karen coming back to frame Elsa.
And on the day Joe died?
He had lost his first child.
Luke's lips tightened. "Contact Karida and have someone review what happened on the day Joe died."
