Chapter 171 She Can't Get a Divorce
Watching the butler drive off, Elsa felt all kinds of messed up inside.
Debbie really pulled this stunt to push her into a divorce! They knew her brother was her Achilles' heel, so they used him against her.
If it was just the Miller family, Elsa would be pissed, but with Debbie in the mix, she felt crushed.
This hit Elsa hard. Had she really started seeing Debbie as family?
Just a few days ago, Luke had slapped her.
The whole unrecognized marriage thing was a nightmare. She could've asked Luke for help, but with Debbie involved, she couldn't make him go against his mom.
Plus, Luke might not even back her over Debbie.
Even though it was the weekend, Luke had some urgent stuff at the company.
He'd been swamped until almost noon when he saw Elsa's missed call and rang her back.
"So, did you have fun with Vincent?"
Elsa dodged the question. "Babe, if I had a huge fight with your mom and she asked us to split, what would you do?"
Luke frowned, clearly ticked off. "Elsa, calling her by name is just fine, and why would you get into a fight?"
"That's hard to say, you know. She'd have to recognize me as her daughter-in-law first." Elsa chuckled lightly.
Luke wasn't sure if he heard it right, but Elsa's tone seemed kinda sarcastic.
She continued, "If she doesn't recognize me, and I still go out of my way to be nice, wouldn't that be too degrading for me?"
These words were harsh. Luke frowned.
It had only been a few days since he had helped her deal with the Miller family. She was all happy and sweet-talking then, but now she was throwing a fit again.
But Elsa rarely complained. Was his mom giving her a hard time again?
Luke tried to keep his cool and said, "My mom has a bad temper, but she's kind. Last time you two argued, she was so upset she ended up in the hospital with high blood pressure. I know she has her flaws, but you're my wife. For my sake, could you be more accommodating to her?"
"Okay, I get it." Elsa didn't want to drag it out and hung up.
'Every kid thinks their mom is the best. Even if I tell Luke his mom had David kidnap Vincent, he won't buy it,' Elsa thought.
Forget it. She'd handle this herself.
As long as she could find where Vincent was, even if she had to forcefully take him back, there was still a chance.
If she couldn't find him or get him back, then she'd have to divorce. Thinking of this, Elsa felt a pain in her chest.
No way, she couldn't let Debbie win!
Jonathan was still investigating, and Elsa also told Chloe about the situation.
Chloe quickly got people on the search while comforting Elsa, "Don't stress too much. David is his biological father, and he's using Vincent to control you. He probably won't harm Vincent."
"Don't be too optimistic. He did give Karen to Dylan," Elsa stated calmly.
"That's true."
Elsa was stating a fact, and Chloe couldn't find any more comforting words.
Jonathan and Chloe's people searched separately, and Elsa didn't sit idle either. She had people check all the properties under David's name and planned to visit each one.
[Mrs. Miller, I'm Mr. King's assistant. Vincent is likely at Azure Lake Resort.] On the way, a text message came from an unknown number.
In one of the towns under Maplewood City, there was a lake called Azure Lake, a local tourist spot known for fishing and camping. It was said David had shares in it.
In the summer, David often stayed at the resort, so it was possible he had hidden Vincent there!
Eager to find Vincent, Elsa didn't hesitate. She immediately turned the car around and headed towards Azure Lake.
