Chapter 124 A Trip to Light City
Elsa's flight touched down in Light City at 11 AM, right on the dot.
Elsa effortlessly made her way onto the construction site of the Jones family's new building project, posing as Jonny's assistant. The site was a madhouse, with thousands of workers hustling around. Elsa, rocking a hard hat, a swanky white cashmere coat, and killer heels, definitely turned some heads.
The project was still in the early design stages. Only a few key reps and designers from the Miller family were there, checking out the foundation and sketching away.
Spotting their uniforms, Elsa wandered around, snapped some pics, and then casually strolled up to them.
"When's the construction kicking off?" she inquired.
"No later than early next month." Most folks didn't know about Elsa's ties to the Miller family, so they just assumed she was from the client side and answered politely.
Only a short dude with glasses seemed to recognize her and hesitated like he had something to say.
Elsa felt a bit uneasy. She'd been in the news a few times, and if recognized, things could get messy. But the guy just stared and kept his mouth shut.
At noon, while grabbing lunch in a nearby construction tent, Elsa ordered some coffee through an app and had it delivered.
"I'm Mr. Jones's assistant, Madelyn Hernandez. If you need to talk to Mr. Jones, hit me up first." Elsa handed out her new number.
Madelyn Hernandez was indeed Jonny's assistant, so even if this identity got out, David wouldn't suspect Elsa.
Elsa's goal was to get the lowdown on the Miller family's project so she could spot any flaws later. Since it was just starting, she'd probably need to make a few more trips.
Her second task was to find the person in charge of the real estate inspection. This turned out to be a breeze. The construction site's walls had notices and photos, and Elsa just needed to snap pics of them.
By the time she bounced from the site, it was already 3 PM. Elsa found a restaurant, grabbed a bite, and sent the photos to Jonathan. He was also in real estate and might know someone.
Jonathan: [Joseph Garcia is the guy inspecting my real estate in Light City. He used to be with the Department of Housing and Urban Development.] He replied quickly.
Elsa: [Cool, how can I meet him?]
Jonathan: [Meeting him is easy. Joseph is my tennis buddy. You in Light City?]
After confirming, Jonathan didn't ask further and just typed: [Are you in a rush?]
Elsa thought for a moment. Following the Miller family's project from start to finish would take at least three months, maybe six, so she wasn't in a hurry.
Jonathan: "If it's not urgent, wait for me to give you a heads-up when I head to Light City."
He had just finished dinner with friends and sounded in a good mood in his voice message.
"Who is it, Jonathan? Starting a second relationship?" a long-time friend teased.
Jonathan just smiled slightly. "A young kid who vibes well with me."
Elsa's fearless personality reminded Jonathan of himself when he was young. It was said that Elsa's mom also had the last name Green, quite a coincidence.
Jonathan could probably guess Elsa's reason for going to Light City, but since she didn't mention it, he didn't inquire.
Elsa also replied with a voice message, full of excitement, "Awesome, I'll be your caddy then. I'm not great at playing, but I'm a pro at picking up balls!"
Jonathan was amused by Elsa. His friends who heard Elsa's words teased him, "How cute! Finding a younger wife isn't a bad thing. After all, you still look handsome."
"No worries, with Jonathan's wealth and charm, he could snag a 20-year-old even at 80!"
Jonathan calmly put away his phone.
Over the years, many young girls had thrown themselves at Jonathan, but Elsa was clearly not one of them.
