Chapter 145 Give Her a Building

Luke's efficiency was off the charts. In less than a week, Elsa grasped his intention from their conversation in the Ferris wheel's cabin.

Max rolled up with a stack of bright red property deeds and a box of keys for Elsa.

"What's all this?" Luke was out on a business trip, and Elsa was chilling at home for the weekend. Seeing Max with all those deeds, she was floored.

"Mr. Taylor said you dig Virtual Dream Developers, so he bought the whole building for you," Max said, handing over a stack of signed contracts.

"The building's got 20 floors and 40 units. Half are rented out. Here are the contracts. Keep 'em safe."

Luke bought the Virtual Dream Developers building and just handed it over to Elsa!

Elsa took the contracts, feeling like they were burning her hands.

A few days ago, the $5 million compensation from Dylan, requested under Dalton Banks' name, had hit Elsa's account after deducting the $1.7 million contract fee. She could barely wrap her head around that money as payback for Dylan's mess. But Luke's move? She thought he was out of his mind.

"What do you mean by this?" Not wanting to mess with Luke's work, Elsa waited until the evening to video call him.

"What?" Luke was confused.

He had just finished his shower, rocking a white bathrobe and leaning against the hotel bedhead. His skin had a healthy glow. Through the phone, Elsa could almost smell the pinewood scent on him.

"Why'd you buy a building for me?" Elsa got straight to the point.

It was nuts. Anyone who didn't know would think Elsa had some magic way of seducing people, not only marrying Luke but also making him drop so much cash so fast.

Setting aside the $15 million pink diamond, she couldn't even imagine how much Luke had blown on this prime location building.

"Don't you like it? Gain more experience at Dalton Banks and save the rental income. In a few years, you can open your own jewelry store." Luke's voice was a bit hoarse, probably from a long day.

"This isn't mine. I don't want it." Elsa wasn't into material stuff. She had hustled in the past to pay for Vincent's medical treatment. Now that Vincent was fine, she didn't feel she needed such a huge asset.

But Luke's plans for her genuinely moved her.He had actually thought so much for her.

"You can take someone else's private seal, but you can't accept something from me?" Luke's tone got serious.

Turned out Luke was still competing with Jonny. Elsa found it both infuriating and amusing.

"I'll return Jonny's seal after I use it," Elsa explained softly.

She continued, "Such a big stack of property deeds, holding them feels like they're burning my hands. Anyone who doesn't know would think I married you just for your money."

"Elsa, why do you refuse my gifts? Are you planning to leave me cleanly?" Luke's eyes darkened, genuinely angry.

"Alright, I'll accept them. My dear, you're so generous. At this rate, I'll be on the Forbes list in no time." Seeing Luke angry, Elsa quickly tried to soothe him.

Despite spending a lot of money, Luke didn't get a single thank you from her. It was a bit much. After all, they were living together, and these should count as joint assets. If they really couldn't make it work one day, she could just return them to him.

But Luke did say they could live a lifetime together. Could they really make it a lifetime?

With a thousand thoughts in Elsa's mind, she still wore a smile.

"Thank you, honey. You can call me the wealthiest woman in Maplewood City from now on." She leaned close to the phone and gave Luke a loud kiss through the screen.

"And not only are you rich, but you're also loyal, young, and handsome. My happiness level is through the roof!" Elsa quickly flattered.

It was commonly held that emotional intelligence was a key aspect of overall intelligence. Given Elsa's sharpness, offering compliments came naturally to her.

Yet, Luke started to sense that Elsa's lack of frequent flattery towards him stemmed from her mind not being fully engaged with him.

"If you were as sweet-talking as you are now, there's no telling what you couldn't achieve,"Luke remarked, containing the flutter in his heart as he gazed deeply into Elsa's eyes.

Luke had been away on a week-long business trip. After a few days of not seeing Elsa, he really missed her. When he slept alone in the Presidential Suite at night, he felt too empty.

And looking at Luke, all of Elsa's anger vanished, and she couldn't help but marvel silently, 'Who would have thought that in this lifetime, she could spend a man's money so freely at once.'
