Chapter 28 Negotiation with David

Elsa knelt on the ground pleading incessantly, eventually even raising the price to $100,000, then to $200,000.
The man remained silent, eventually pulling his wife out impatiently without a word.
"Uncle, Auntie, I beg you!" Elsa shouted from behind, the two paused their steps but did not turn back.
The negotiation failed. Elsa knelt on the ground as if her soul had been sucked out, unable to move.
It wasn't until Vincent walked in that she finally noticed.
"Elsa," Vincent knelt beside her, embracing her, "I am already content to have lived to 17 under your and Mom's protection. You don't have to do this for me ...."
His remaining words choked in his throat as he saw Elsa's vacant eyes. Tears welled up in Elsa's eyes as well.
"Vincent, you will be fine, I will definitely find a new donor for your heart." Elsa didn't know that she was saying it for Vincent or for herself.
"Don't do this anymore ...." Vincent just choked on repeating his words, crying bitterly.
Unable to bear seeing Vincent like this, Elsa quickly tried to control her emotions and carefully comforted him.
His heart was showing signs of failure, so he couldn't afford to get too emotional.
"Listen to me, let me accompany you back to the ward to lie down." She said, carefully supporting Vincent. She had rushed in so quickly that she had forgotten to buy some of his favorite fruits and snacks.
The siblings had a long heart-to-heart talk in the ward.
Elsa repeatedly emphasized that living was a beautiful thing, he had to stay alive. A new heart could definitely be found.
It wasn't until 5 o'clock in the afternoon that she adjusted her emotions and left the hospital.
Seeing the heart donor that she had met during the day walking ahead, she slowed her pace.
"That girl is quite pitiful, she offered $200,000, and we should agree. Phyllis also agreed to just $200,000." The woman's voice was neither loud nor soft, just enough for Elsa to hear.
"You don't understand." The man rebuked, "We can't afford to provoke the Miller family, if Phyllis finds out we donated our son's heart to this girl's brother, we will be retaliated against in the future!"
"But this poor girl ...." the woman sighed.
Elsa listened from behind, feeling conflicted.
She knew things weren't as simple as they seemed, it was actually Phyllis's interference.
Elsa knew that if she talked to Phyllis and Karen about this, they would only become more audacious. She had to go talk to David, if he had even a shred of conscience left, he wouldn't watch his son die without doing anything.
She unblocked David's number from her phone blacklist.
Elsa arranged to meet David at a coffee shop.
"Elsa, I knew you would forgive me sooner or later." David put on a fake smile, speaking flatteringly, filled with smugness.
"Phyllis has control over Vincent's new heart donor. Vincent's heart is showing signs of failure, and without a heart transplant, he may not live much longer." Elsa, suppressing her disgust, said directly.
"Elsa, you have to understand Phyllis, she must be feeling terrible after you ruined her daughter's wedding plans." David wasn't surprised to hear this news. He was just making excuses for Phyllis.
"David, Vincent is your own child, are you just going to watch him die?" Elsa was furious, slamming the table as she stood up.
"It's not me preventing him from getting a heart transplant, it's Phyllis, and it's also for Karen's sake." David still wore a fake smile, completely unconcerned about Vincent. "Throwing a tantrum won't solve the problem, you'd better go apologize to Phyllis. As long as you promise to leave Maplewood City and never come back, I believe Phyllis won't make you embarrassed."
