Chapter 69 Are You Worthy?
"When I was a child, Luke and I often played here," Margaret spoke softly, as she walked slowly along the Taylor family's artificial lake with Elsa.
"We often played by the lake. Once, Luke didn't keep an eye on me, and I accidentally fell into the water. He was so anxious that he cried on the shore. Later, the butler came and saved me. Because of this, Aunt punished Luke by making him kneel all day and didn't give him any food."
"Luke lost his father at a young age. Since our family didn't have any boys, my father always treated Luke as his own child. Of course, Luke was great, he got into many fights at school to protect me."
As Margaret and Elsa walked, Margaret recounted her past with Luke.
"The night before I married Brandon Nelson, Luke and I held each other and cried all night. Ms. Miller, has any man ever cried for you?"
Elsa was still immersed in the stories of Margaret and Luke's childhood and was momentarily stunned by the question.
"No," Elsa replied truthfully.
'Luke has such a cold face, but he was truly a romantic,' Elsa thought.
As Elsa listened to Margaret talk about Luke's childhood, the images that came to mind were all of Nathan, whom she had just seen moments ago.
'But Luke's gaze would probably be more determined than Nathan's,' Elsa thought.
'Crying all night with Margaret doesn't quite fit Luke's domineering image,' Elsa thought to herself.
Her heart ached slightly.
"Besides me, Luke will never cry for anyone else in his life," Margaret smiled and turned to look at Elsa, who was following behind.
"Ms. Miller, you should know that I am different to him."
"I've experienced it. So what?" Elsa certainly knew Margaret was special. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been so scared a few days ago that she fled immediately.
'But why did Margaret specifically send Luke away to say this?' Elsa thought.
"So I advise you to leave him as soon as possible. You don't deserve Luke. Once he's had enough fun, he'll discard you."
'Margetw is using the gentlest tone to say the most nauseating words. It's amusing, really,' Elsa thought.
Elsa was displeased by Margaret's words but remained polite. She said, "Ms. Collins, I gave you a chance and I gave Luke a chance. He refused to divorce. I think you should persuade him instead of me."
Margaret was offended by this and looked at Elsa with increased hostility.
"Elsa Miller, are you proud? Do you think that just because Luke gave you a pink diamond bracelet, he belongs to you forever? You wish!" Margaret's gentle voice turned sharp and her words became more cutting.
Elsa frowned and said, "Ms. Collins, I'm stating the facts. Your efforts here are useless."
"Whether it's useful or not, I want you to leave him immediately!" Margaret raised her voice.
"You said Luke would eventually get tired of me and abandon me, so why not just wait?" Elsa was annoyed by Margaret's unreasonable attitude and her tone also became much harsher.
"If there's nothing else, Ms. Collins, feel free to stroll around. I need to find my husband," Elsa sneered and was about to walk away.
"Fine, you forced me to do this, Elsa Miller!" Margaret, who had been consumed by jealousy since seeing the bracelet on Elsa's wrist, yelled.
As she spoke, Margaret turned and jumped into the nearby lake.
"Help! Elsa Miller pushed me into the lake!" Margaret shouted.
