Chapter 74 Margaret Collins Apologizes

"What do you mean?" Luke's expression instantly turned serious.

"It is meaningless. It's not mine, and wearing it feels like holding a hot potato." Elsa's tone was cold, as if Luke were a complete stranger.

Luke felt irritated by Elsa's gaze.

"If you don't want it, you can just throw it away, toss it on the street, and see if the women of all Maplewood City doesn't fight over it! Who's as high and mighty as you, Elsa Miller? I forgot that you don't care about my measly money!" Luke unconsciously raised his voice.

The moment Elsa returned Luke the bracelet, he felt an inexplicable panic. He suddenly realized that what Elsa didn't want wasn't the bracelet, but him!

Compared to mistakenly thinking Elsa had fallen into the water with Margaret, Luke was actually more upset that Elsa didn't care about her own safety. But he couldn't bring himself to say it.

"I'm tired. If you're done acting crazy, then just leave. Remember to close the door," Elsa couldn't be bothered to argue with Luke. She lay down and closed her eyes.

At night, at the ECHO club.

A sudden downpour started outside. Karida and Terry sat by the window, listening to the whole story with the sound of rain.

"Margaret's actions were indeed unethical. Maybe she was blinded by jealousy," Karida concluded.

"All's fair in love and war. Why is Elsa allowed to use any means necessarily, but others can't compete with her?" Terry held a bias against Elsa. He also thought Margaret's actions were wrong but still spoke up for her.

Karida shot Terry a warning glance and said, "Stop adding fuel to the fire. When Elsa gets out of the hospital, Luke will probably be sleeping on the couch."

"Exactly, she used some tricks to get Luke in the first place," Terry retorted.

Karida immediately defended Elsa, "You don't understand Elsa. I can't say I know her well either, but she's straightforward in her actions and not a bad person."

"Straightforward? She's clearly very cunning," Terry said.

As Karida and Terry were arguing, a gentle female voice interrupted, "Luke."

It was Margaret, who had come in the rain.

Margaret didn't have an umbrella and was soaked to the skin. Her white dress clung to her body, her hair dripped with water, and her eyes were filled with tears.

"What are you doing here?" Luke looked at Margaret, his face showing no emotion.

"Luke, I know I did something wrong and made you unhappy. Can you listen to my explanation?" Margaret stood pitifully in front of Luke, tears streaming down her face.

"Just give Margaret a chance," Terry, seeing Margaret's state, softened before Luke did and spoke up for her. Suddenly, Karida tugged at his sleeve.

"You guys talk and we'll leave now."

Karida pulled Terry along, stopping when they reached the door.

"Don't get involved. I don't think Margaret and Luke will end up together anyway," Karida said while texting on Facebook for her driver to pick them up.

"Why do you say that?" Terry was puzzled.

"Because Luke's gaze towards Margaret is too ordinary. If it were Elsa who had come in the rain, Luke would be both angry at her for not taking care of herself and worried. He wouldn't be indifferent."

Karida had seen the possessive look in Luke's eyes when he looked at Elsa, which was a little frightening.

"Luke did say he liked Margaret back then, but he never admitted that he liked Elsa!" Terry was still being stubborn.

"Use your brain and think about it. If Luke doesn't like Elsa Miller, why have we been accompanying him to drown his sorrows time repeatedly?" Karida said.

For the first time, Karida felt like Terry's stupidity was going to make him cry.

'With Luke's attitude, does it even matter whether he says he likes Elsa or not?

'Terry, as the future heir of the Clark family, is so naive in matters of the heart. He's hopeless,' Karida thought.
