Chapter 107 An Even Worse Conspiracy Awaits

Meanwhile, Margaret was having a rough time.

She ended up in the hospital for a week with alcohol poisoning, and the IV drips made her swell up like a balloon.

"This was your brilliant idea!" Margaret snapped at Karen over the phone.

Margaret cursed herself for listening to Karen. She had thought the media exposure and online support would help her win back Luke.

Instead, it backfired. She landed in the hospital and even got publicly humiliated by Luke in front of everyone online.

Her carefully crafted image was shattered.

"This wasn't a total failure. Luke and Elsa will definitely have a rift because of this. Be confident. Luke still has feelings for you. He's just been influenced by Elsa," Karen said over the phone.

"Plus, Emily lost an arm because of Elsa. You think he'll let that slide? Elsa's bad days are coming," Karen's voice was grating.

Margaret felt a sudden pang of regret.

She regretted teaming up with Karen and getting involved in their family drama. All she wanted was Luke, but the mess with Elsa and the Millers was way more complicated.

A few days ago, the Prosperous Abundance Group announced the bidding results. Not only did the Miller Group lose, but they were also blacklisted for malicious bidding. This was a huge blow to their credibility and business.

David used to ignore Elsa and Vincent, letting Phyllis and Karen do their thing. But now, he was so mad he wanted to strangle Elsa himself.

Karen used to be discreet about her schemes, but after the bidding incident, she became openly brazen.

She'd given up on Luke. After they split, she mingled with wealthy heirs, getting involved with men of status and wealth.

Karen, once a pianist who cherished her reputation, was now rumored to be entangled with multiple men.

Most parents would intervene if their daughter's private life was chaotic. But David and Phyllis, seeing that Karen couldn't marry the richest man but could benefit from dating many rich men, didn't interfere. They even provided convenience.

The high society circle in Maplewood City wasn't large, and Margaret had heard some of Karen's exploits. Now, she just hoped Luke wouldn't find out about her dealings with Karen.

"Ms. Miller, let's cease our cooperation. This mess has made me the biggest loser. Who knows what trouble will come next time? From now on, we should go our separate ways," Margaret said.

Karen sneered, "Ms. Collins, if you don't mind me sending our chat records to Luke, we can part ways."

"What do you mean?" Margaret was startled.

"Nothing much. I have recordings of every call with you, and I haven't deleted a single message. You've always portrayed a pure image in front of Luke. If he finds out how bad you really are, what do you think he'll do?" Karen had anticipated this day and kept ample evidence.

Karen's words sent a chill down Margaret's spine. She realized Karen had never intended to help her get Luke willingly.

Karen's real motive was to collect evidence of her bad personality so that after they brought down Elsa, she could show it to Luke.

"I can't believe the audacity," Margaret sneered.

"Well, I'm just leaving a way out for myself in case something changes."

"Karen, I'll continue to cooperate with you. But if Luke finds out anything, don't blame me for not giving the Millers a way out," Margaret said, a hint of ruthlessness flashing in her eyes.
