Chapter 414 What Was Said to the Sea

Girls from small families often cried and made a scene after a breakup, acting hysterical and disregarding their dignity.

For Chloe, who had been receiving elite education since childhood, maintaining her dignity was of utmost importance.

She even believed that their collaboration could continue unaffected, and they could still interact like friends. After all, Jonathan had never made any promises to her, so there was no betrayal to speak of.

Apart from not loving her, he had no other flaws.

Jonathan and Lara spent the night at the hospital with Giselle and only drove home early in the morning.

Despite being in her seventies, Lara's physical condition was impressive. She stayed up all night and still managed to scroll through her phone in the passenger seat without showing any signs of fatigue.

"Chloe is so beautiful."

She had come across Chloe's short video account and showed it to Jonathan during a red light.

In the video, Chloe was standing by the sea in a classic brown coat, wrapping herself in a shawl. The winter sea breeze tousled her long hair, and her gaze was filled with a dreamy sentiment, reminiscent of vintage calendar girls.

The video was from a few days ago, with the caption, [I told the sea everything I wanted to say to you.]

What did she want to say to him?

Jonathan smirked. He didn't have a short video account, but he was certain that this message was meant for him. Chloe liked him, even if she no longer mentioned it, he knew.

"Whoever marries a girl like Chloe is incredibly lucky," Lara remarked.

Jonathan didn't deny Lara's words.

Chloe was perfect in every way—appearance, personality, and family background. There was nothing to criticize.

He couldn't quite define his feelings for Chloe, but if he ever considered remarrying, Chloe would naturally be his first choice.

But would that be fair to her?

Lara watched the video several more times. "We were so focused on Giselle yesterday that we neglected Chloe. She's a girl, and even if she doesn't say it, she must be feeling hurt. You should buy her a gift today to make it up to her."

Jonathan agreed.

But before they even got home, Chloe sent a message on WhatsApp.

She wasn't throwing a tantrum waiting for him to coax her. Her message left no room for reconciliation.

If she had said, "I'm jealous of how well you treat Giselle," or "I realize your feelings for me aren't as deep as mine for you," it would have been a plea for him to comfort her.

But she said her parents wanted her to date someone her age, a reason that left no room for argument.

Jonathan, driving with one hand, simply replied with "Okay."

At his age, he should have a clear understanding of relationships. Whether a young and beautiful girl loved him or not, he shouldn't interfere.

Still, there was a subtle ache in his heart.

"Pick a necklace from my collection," Lara finally put down her phone and yawned.

"No need," Jonathan replied with a bitter smile, shaking his head.

No matter how much Lara pressed, he remained silent.

Elsa woke up in Luke's villa around noon.

Luke was leaning against the headboard, handling work on his phone. As soon as she stretched, he pulled her into his arms.

"You didn't go to work?" Elsa asked, still groggy, leaning against Luke.

"No," Luke replied, grabbing a hair tie from the nightstand and putting her hair up in a bun. "Go freshen up and eat."

"New skill?" Elsa, now fully awake, looked at him in surprise.

Luke smirked, "Do you like it?"

He had watched several videos to master this skill.

"Not necessary," Elsa said.

Sure enough, Luke's face darkened.

"Just kidding, I love it," she quickly reassured him, cupping his face and kissing his cheek, satisfied to see his expression brighten.

Elsa thought Luke was easy to please; she just hadn't found the right way to approach him before.

She was worried about Chloe and barely ate lunch before wanting to leave. In the end, Luke insisted on feeding her a bowl of soup before letting the driver take her.

After not seeing Chloe for a night, Elsa felt something was different about her, though she couldn't quite pinpoint what.

Chloe had full makeup on and was wearing a sleeveless silk dress in the middle of winter when she opened the door. Afterward, she put on her camel wool coat and said, "Come on, let's go get a tattoo."
