Chapter 406 Diamond Earrings

"I lost the diamond earrings."

Giselle's voice cracked, and tears finally spilled from her eyes.

How could there be such a delicate girl in the world, with that fragile vulnerability that made one's heart ache?

Diamonds were certainly valuable, but Giselle had been with the King family for years and had seen her share of fine things. It was clear she wouldn't be so upset over a pair of diamond earrings unless they were truly important.

Her reaction now could only mean those earrings held significant value.

Sure enough, Elsa watched as Jonathan's anger dissipated, replaced by a softer expression.

"Since it's already happened, don't beat yourself up. Earrings can be replaced, but you need to take care of yourself," Jonathan comforted Giselle, walking over to pat her shoulder.

"I only want that pair."

Giselle's voice trembled, her body weak.

Jonathan's heart softened. He sighed, "Don't be stubborn."

"Mr. King," Giselle called him softly, but didn't say anything more.

"Take Mother and Giselle back to rest, and help Giselle look for the earrings," Jonathan instructed the servants.

Before Elsa arrived, Giselle was the princess of this household.

Giselle's eyes were red, and she remained silent. Lara was even more shaken, feeling deeply unsettled.

After settling Giselle and Lara, Jonathan turned to Elsa, "Let's go to the hospital to check on Terry."

On the way, Jonathan drove while Elsa sat silently in the passenger seat, lost in thought.

Chloe's call came through, her voice almost in tears.

"What happened? I heard Terry got hurt. Are you okay?"

She was supposed to attend the family reunion today, but Poetic Patterns had an important show, and with Jonathan and Elsa unable to be there, Chloe, as one of the three investors, had to take on the responsibility.

She had been busy at the show all day before hearing the news.

"I'm okay," Elsa replied heavily, briefly explaining the situation to Chloe.

"What were the security guards doing? How could someone uninvited just barge in?" Chloe was incredulous.

"The security guards were helping Giselle look for her lost earrings," Elsa explained truthfully.

"Who is Giselle, acting so high and mighty!" Chloe was furious. "This was poured on Terry's arm. If it had been on your face, your life would be ruined! Investigate this person; she might be in cahoots with Margaret, trying to harm you!"

Elsa sat next to Jonathan, and Chloe's loud, angry voice was audible to him.

He frowned slightly but said nothing.

"It's not that. Those earrings are very important to Giselle," Elsa explained, seeing Jonathan's displeased expression, though she didn't know why the earrings were so significant.

After calming Chloe down, Elsa finally hung up the phone.

"Those earrings were my gift to Giselle for her eighteenth birthday," Jonathan said suddenly, eyes fixed on the road ahead.

Elsa turned sharply to look at Jonathan, trying to discern something from his face.

She had thought the earrings were a keepsake from Giselle's deceased grandmother or parents, but it turned out they were a gift from Jonathan.

"You and her..."

Given her position, Elsa shouldn't pry, but she felt indignant for Chloe and couldn't help but ask.

"There's nothing. To me, Giselle is just a child," Jonathan interrupted her.

"But this she is older than Chloe. You see her as a child, but she might not see you as an elder."

Giselle's attitude was more like she had lost a token of love rather than a gift from an elder!

Jonathan turned to look at Elsa, surprised by her sudden intensity. "Elsa, do you dislike Giselle?"
