Chapter 175 A Narrow Escape from Death
"Leave? Now that you're here, Mr. Taylor, where do you think you're going?" Sean laughed like he'd just heard the funniest joke ever.
"Since Mr. Butler wants me, can Elsa go?" Luke realized Sean had given him the address without fear because he had a gun and didn't plan to let him leave alive.
If it was about money, Sean would've hidden Elsa and demanded a transfer. But he just wanted Luke dead.
Sean's men made a path for Elsa with a glance.
"No!" Elsa stood firm, eyes resolute.
"Just listen to me." Luke wiped blood from Elsa's mouth and licked it off his finger. "You leave now."
Elsa didn't move.
"Please, throw my wife out," Luke asked Sean.
Luke stayed calm, and surprisingly, so did Elsa.
Their resilience even impressed Sean.
"Alright, throw her out. We can't let Mrs. Taylor watch as I blow her husband's brains out." Sean lit a cigarette and blew a smoke ring.
"Luke!" Elsa, calm all night, finally broke down.
She used all her strength to hug Luke tightly.
Elsa, usually calm and calculating, had one thing on her mind: if they were going to die, they'd die together.
"Luke." She clung to him, unable to say more. Tears sparkled in her eyes under the light.
Luke was mesmerized. He kissed her wet eyelashes. "Elsa."
"Throw her out!" Sean ordered.
Several men pulled Elsa off Luke and threw her out the door.
A gunshot rang out inside.
"Luke!"
Elsa rushed back in, only to hear Luke's deep voice. "Don't move."
Luke's arm was shot and bleeding, but he had grabbed Sean's gun and was pointing it at Sean's temple.
Luke wasn't dead. Just as Elsa was about to speak, she was struck hard on the back of her head and passed out.
Valley of Hope Hospital.
Luke's arm was bandaged, still bleeding. He stared blankly at the unconscious Elsa on the hospital bed.
He once thought Elsa was just attractive but lacked relationship skills, appearing too rigid. Now, he realized no other woman would risk her life for him like Elsa did.
Luke had martial arts skills from a young age.
After Elsa was thrown out, he felt no more apprehension. When Sean fired, he took the bullet with his left arm. Seeing him get hit, Sean let his guard down, not expecting Luke to seize the gun.
With Sean held at gunpoint, no one else dared to move.
In the end, Karida and Terry burst in with their team, apprehending Sean and rounding up the rest.
Elsa had suffered a lot to protect him. Her face and body were covered in bruises and wounds. Looking at Elsa, Luke felt overwhelming tenderness.
"Well, Luke, having a wife who'd risk her life for you is something to brag about forever," Karida joked, giving Terry a knowing look.
"Any other woman would just cry and make things worse. None of them have Elsa's grit." The "crying woman" Karida referred to was Margaret.
Terry felt extremely uncomfortable under Karida's gaze.
