Chapter 32: I Agree to Get Married
Luke raised an eyebrow at her. "Elsa, why are you so brash? Can't you act more like a lady?"
"Luke, you've known me for a while now." Elsa leaned closer to Luke, with a widening smile.
Luke calmly stated, "Karen is the most suitable match for me."
"That's true." Elsa's dark eyes dimmed, and she took a step back, turning to walk away. "Goodbye."
‘Giving up so easily? That's not like her,’ Luke thought to himself, but he couldn't bring himself to stop her.
He had only meant to make her uncomfortable, but it turned out to trouble him instead. Luke's expression became somewhat unpleasant.
He got out of the car quickly and walked sadly toward the inner room. Unexpectedly, Elsa came back and leaped into his arms with a burst of energy.
Luke's heart suddenly raced.
He held her tightly and strode upstairs.
Elsa came four times, and each time Luke held her in his arms. This time, she smiled too.
"What's so funny?" Luke's expression remained serious, but his eyes softened.
"I think you prefer me a little more than Karen," she said, playfully kissing Luke's ear.
Luke hummed, but a faint pink tint appeared on his earlobe.
Later that night, as emotions ran high, Luke whispered in Elsa's ear, "You forgot to puncture the condom today."
Elsa instantly blushed.
He knew all along.
He knew everything but didn't expose it. He watched her perform quietly, as if he was watching a clown in a circus.
This realization suddenly made her feel annoyed, and she fiercely bit Luke's neck.
Luke didn't resist, letting her leave a mark on his neck.
"I agree to get married. Let's go to the courthouse tomorrow morning," Luke suddenly said.
For a moment, Elsa felt like the air around her had frozen.
"What did you say?" she cautiously confirmed again.
"If you didn't hear it, forget it," Luke said, watching Elsa's eyes suddenly sparkle in front of him, like the city's streetlights that lit up every night at 7 o'clock, bright and warm.
"I heard! I'm going home now to get my ID!" Elsa, afraid that Luke would change his mind, quickly climbed down from the bed, disheveled, and hurried out. Luke watched Elsa's retreating figure and couldn't help but smile. Why was she in such a rush?
"Chloe! Luke agreed to marry me. He's marrying me!" Elsa said in a call to Chloe, her hands trembling with excitement.
Chloe, however, was not happy and spoke seriously. "Elsa, are you sure about this?"
"Of course, Chloe, getting close to Luke is my goal," Elsa replied.
"Do you love him?"
This question made Elsa fall silent before she said, "That's not important."
What mattered was that she was finally getting what she wanted. Seeking revenge for her mother was one of the most important things in her life, and marrying Luke was the first step to that goal.
"I'm afraid you'll regret this," Chloe sighed on the other end of the phone.
"If Luke marries Karen, then I'll regret for the rest of my life."
The next day, Elsa went to the courthouse early.
To show her seriousness about getting married, she even found the best white dress in her closet and put on the purest makeup.
She waited from 8 a.m. until the courthouse closed at noon, but Luke never showed up.
Under the scorching sun, Elsa was close to melting, realizing she didn't even have his contact details.
Well, what can you expect from a man when he was insane? Maybe Luke just made a casual promise, and she took it too seriously?
Elsa chuckled bitterly, about to head home when a stranger called.
"Elsa, I'm Luke's assistant Max. Our boss had an accident. He's at Valley of Hope Hospital."
