Chapter 351 Hailey is in Trouble

Luke's kiss came so suddenly that by the time Elsa tried to avoid it, it was already over.

She was a bit stunned.

"Nothing happened between Hailey and me, we didn't even hold hands," Luke said truthfully. Elsa recalled that Hailey only dared to hold his arm; they never interlocked fingers.

Adult relationships where they didn't even hold hands, just nominally boyfriend and girlfriend, were really puzzling.

Elsa didn't understand and felt it had nothing to do with her.

Luke didn't interfere with her in other matters, but he was unusually proactive in feeding her. Elsa found it troublesome; she usually just drank some milk for breakfast, but Luke treated lunch and dinner as major events and wouldn't let anyone else handle it.

At first, Elsa resisted a bit, but later she couldn't be bothered to argue and just let him do it.

Her shoulder and upper arm were injured, but she could still move her forearm, and after three days, she could eat by herself. But Luke enjoyed it so much that he didn't give Elsa a chance to feed herself.

Hailey usually visited in the mornings. Over the past few days, Elsa had heard her voice from the slightly open door of the hospital room but had never met her face-to-face.

This incident was discovered a week later.

That day, Luke was feeding Elsa as usual, wiping her mouth with his thumb, when Hailey walked in on them.

She had some business in the morning and didn't come by. At noon, she went to Luke's room but didn't find him, so she heard sounds from the next room and pushed the door open, only to see Luke feeding Elsa a piece of fish like he was coaxing a child.

Luke's eyes were so tender when he looked at Elsa that they could almost drip water; there was no trace of the coldness he showed in front of Hailey.

So this was how Luke looked in front of someone he truly liked. The coldness and impatience he showed in front of her were not his true nature; it was just because she was Hailey and not Elsa.

She felt like a clown these past few days.

This time, Hailey didn't even have the courage to confront them. She screamed and ran out of the hospital in tears.

"Aren't you going to chase her?" Elsa felt inexplicably guilty as she watched Hailey's tearful back.

"Let her go," Luke glanced at her indifferently and then picked up another piece of meat, "Open your mouth."

"If she leaves this time, you two will have to break up."

"I know." That was exactly what he wanted.

Elsa looked at Luke's calm demeanor and found it strange.

According to Debbie, being with Hailey was beneficial for Luke's future. If that was the case, shouldn't Luke be trying to appease Hailey? Why did he seem so indifferent?

Luke didn't want to explain this to Elsa, fearing that knowing too much would affect her, but given the situation, he had to say something.

"I agreed to be Hailey's boyfriend for three months as a favor to Ian." Now that Hailey was getting more and more out of hand, there was no need to keep that favor.

Hailey got into trouble the same day she ran out of the hospital.

Her driver had dropped her off at the hospital and left. Hailey originally wanted to contact the driver to pick her up, but she saw a taxi parked outside the hospital and got in.

The taxi's brakes failed on the way, causing an accident at an intersection not far from the hospital. The driver died on the spot, and Hailey was injured with multiple fractures.

This had nothing to do with Elsa, but Hailey insisted that Elsa was to blame.

Ian, who loved his daughter dearly, wanted to take Elsa in for questioning without distinguishing right from wrong.

"Ms. Miller, please come with us." Early the next morning, before Elsa had even washed up, a few people were standing at the door of her hospital room.

Elsa was initially confused, but after understanding their purpose, she immediately got angry, "Hailey gets into a car accident, and you blame me? You need evidence to arrest someone, right? What, can Ian break the law now?"

She called Ian by his name, which the men didn't expect, making them look awkward for a moment. "It's just routine questioning. If you're innocent, we'll naturally let you go."

Elsa sneered, "So if I don't go, I'm obstructing justice? If I resist, will you shoot me?"

At this moment, Luke, who was in the next room, heard the commotion and came over.

Both he and Elsa were wearing custom hospital gowns for VIP patients. Despite being two frail patients, they exuded a strong presence.

Elsa was already a tough person to deal with, and when Luke walked over, his overwhelming presence made the men even more nervous. They knew that if Ian could cover the sky with one hand in Maplewood City, Luke was the one who could cut off that hand.

"Ian only said to take Elsa, not me?" Luke lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and looked at them with a half-smile.

"No. If there's nothing, we'll bring Ms. Miller back," the leader quickly explained.

"Are you going?" Luke leaned close to Elsa and asked, his voice suddenly softening.
