Chapter 320 Hailey
Elsa didn't know how she got home. She threw herself onto the couch, her mind filled with the conversation with Brian.
Luke had done far more than she had imagined.
When she needed him, he indeed didn't show up immediately, but during those moments she wanted to endure alone, he was never absent.
Maybe she had been too harsh on Luke.
As the slight intoxication gradually faded, Elsa stared at the ceiling with wide eyes, unable to sleep all night.
Early the next morning, she suddenly felt an urge to talk to Luke.
Elsa asked Leo for a two-hour leave, quickly freshened up, and headed straight to Luke's villa.
When she arrived at the door, she checked her watch. It was not yet 8 o'clock; Luke should still be home.
Elsa raised her hand to ring the bell. The security guard was the same as before, looking at Elsa with a guilty expression, as if he had been caught doing something wrong.
"Ms. Miller," He greeted her with some stuttering.
"Is Luke home?" Elsa noticed his unease and thought it was because they hadn't seen each other for a while, so she didn't think much of it.
The security guard hesitated, "He is home."
"What's wrong with him?"
"Ms. Phillips just arrived as well. Should I inform him?"
"Ms. Phillips?"
"Ian's daughter, Hailey Phillips."
Last month, Ian had just been successfully promoted and was now the mayor of Maplewood City.
Elsa remembered that Hailey was no more than 18 years old.
Hailey at Luke's house early in the morning?
There was no other reason except the one she was thinking of.
"Then I'll come back another day." Elsa nodded, her excitement from the previous night suddenly cooling down. She quietly stepped back.
"Who is outside?" It was the butler's voice.
Elsa made a "keep it secret" gesture and walked away silently.
Hailey was indeed the blind date Debbie had arranged for Luke.
If time could go back to a year ago, after Luke's divorce, Debbie would have certainly encouraged him to be with Margaret.
But she had been deceived by Margaret several times, both openly and secretly, and had concluded that Margaret was not a simple person. If there were other options, she would naturally prioritize them. And Hailey was not someone Margaret could compare to.
If Luke could successfully marry Hailey, the Taylor Group would definitely reach new heights.
For a girl like Hailey, marrying into a family like the Taylors was the best choice. First, Ian's dubious money could be laundered smoothly, and second, with a financial backer, the Phillips family would find it easier to advance in the future.
Luke had left a deep impression on Ian when he negotiated for Elsa. From family background to ability to ambition, Luke was simply Ian's ideal son-in-law.
Luke had been avoiding the blind date, but Hailey couldn't stay calm and showed up at Luke's house early in the morning.
She was good-looking and came from a good family. She was always the one who didn't fancy others, not the other way around. Initially, she was reluctant to go on a blind date with Luke. No matter how good Luke was, in her eyes, he was just a divorced man eight years older than her!
Later, Luke's repeated evasions ignited her fighting spirit. She wanted to see why Luke was so arrogant!
Hailey's visit surprised Luke.
"Ms. Phillips, what brings you here so early?" Luke was having breakfast and frowned when he saw Hailey come in.
Debbie had sent him Hailey's photo, so he recognized her immediately.
Hailey was petite, with round, cat-like eyes, round cheeks, and a pointed chin, giving her an impish look.
Hailey had seen Luke's photo and had mentally prepared herself. But seeing him in person, she was still momentarily at a loss.
Luke was too handsome.
His facial proportions and features were as good as any male celebrity, and his demeanor, due to his privileged upbringing, was even more refined.
He merely lifted his head slightly from the dining table to look at her, making her blush and her heart race.
Hailey suddenly lost her ability to speak.
She stomped her foot slightly and said, "I was passing by and thought I'd drop in."
"Passing by? Ms. Phillips, your house and mine are in opposite directions." Luke bluntly exposed her lie.
"I came to see you, so what!" Hailey snapped.
