Chapter 27 The Donor Family Backed Out

Luke wasn't interested in other people's affairs, but what upset him was that Elsa approached him just to deal with the Miller family.
In other words, if Karen was engaged to another man, Elsa would still come to seduce him.
This woman, would stop at nothing to achieve her goals because he had experienced that.
‘If it wasn't him, she would undress piece by piece in front of someone else and hug him.’Luke pondered and was irritated by this idea. This restless woman!
Fortunately, it was him.
In the following days, Luke patiently waited for Elsa to show up with the results of her pregnancy test.
Of course, if she wasn't successful in getting pregnant, would she come back to his mansion to seduce him again?
Yes, this woman was so goal-oriented that she wouldn't give up until she achieved her goal.
What he didn't know was that something more important was happening on Elsa's end.
The hospital called to say that a terminally ill cancer patient had decided to donate their heart to Vincent, and the match was perfect.
Elsa had been waiting for this opportunity for a long time, and upon receiving the news, she borrowed $100,000 from Chloe and rushed to the hospital.
The hospital's quote for the heart transplant surgery was $60,000, and the remaining $40,000 she planned to give to the donor's parents as compensation. The hospital mentioned that the dying person was their only child, and their retirement was a big issue. This money would alleviate some of their financial burdens. She even planned to have Vincent acknowledge him as their foster parents after a successful surgery, taking care of them in place of their son.
“Mom, Vincent was saved.” She murmured.
On the way to the hospital, Elsa looked at a photo of Leslie on her phone, with her hands trembling with excitement, tears streaming down her face.
But when Elsa arrived at the hospital in excitement, Vincent's attending doctor and the administrative director in charge of finding a new heart source were both looking at her awkwardly.
"Elsa, the donor family has suddenly changed their minds. Look ...."
"Why did they change their minds?" Elsa was puzzled. It had only been an hour since the hospital notified her and she rushed over.
"The donor's father said he didn’t agree to his son's organ donation and wanted his child to pass away intact." The director said with a wry smile. "Elsa, don't worry, we have also contacted other hospitals and will definitely find a suitable new heart for Vincent."
Finding a new heart for Vincent had been a long process, and if it were that easy, it wouldn't have dragged on until today.
Elsa's heart sank suddenly, plummeting into a deep abyss.
"Can I talk to the family?" She tried to calm her emotions and asked softly.
The director nodded and went out, returning shortly with the donor family.
They were a simple-looking farmer couple, both with gray hair and dressed in worn-out clothes. To be able to afford treatment for their son in such an expensive private hospital, they must have exhausted all their resources.
Elsa looked at the two of them and slowly kneeled down.
"Young lady, please don't ..." the woman rushed over to help her up, filled with guilt.
"Aunt and uncle, I understand your feelings," Elsa insisted on kneeling, looking sincerely at the elderly couple. "My brother is still young, and he also wants to live. Aunt and uncle, if you agree to let your child donate, I will give you $40,000 for your retirement. In the future, my brother and I will treat you as our own parents, how about that?"
Her words were sincere, filled with emotional supplication. It was the first time she had shed tears in front of strangers.
"Young lady, we're not heartless, it's just ..." the woman looked at Elsa's expression and couldn't help but shed tears as well.
Her husband nudged her with his elbow, stopping her from saying more.
"Stop, we won't donate. Please, stop talking." He turned his head, unable to meet Elsa's eyes.
