Chapter 273 Luke Got Jealous
It was Jonny!
Having known him for so long, Elsa had never considered Jonny so attractive. He stood at the courtyard gate against the light, like a god descending.
"Jonny, what are you doing here!" Elsa exclaimed with surprise and joy, running towards Jonny.
"Don't be afraid," Jonny said, naturally taking her hand and striding out.
"Where's Dylan?" Elsa subtly let go of his hand naturally as they reached his car.
"I knocked him out; he won't wake up for a while," Jonny said, helping Elsa into her car and leaning over to fasten her seatbelt.
Feeling uncomfortable with his overly intimate gesture, Elsa pulled away slightly. "I can do it myself."
"Sorry," Jonny said.
Elsa remained silent. She remembered Dylan's words and sent a message to Luke: [I'm safe for now. Dylan contacted you to use me as leverage for that piece of land. Ignore him.]
Luke's reply came quickly: [Where are you?]
Elsa replied briefly, stuffing her phone into her jeans pocket: [I'm with Jonny.]
Luke frowned. Hadn't she said that even if she got divorced, she wouldn't be with Jonny?
Trying to suppress his anger, he sent: [Send me your location.]
Elsa didn't reply.
"Max, turn around," Luke said to the driver, pressing his temples. It seemed Jonny had rescued Elsa.
Max, though puzzled, obediently turned the car around.
Luke texted again after five minutes without a response: [Elsa, send your location. Don't provoke me.]
However, Elsa had put her phone on silent after sending her message and didn't see Luke's texts.
Before long, the car stopped in front of Elsa's building. Elsa unbuckled her seatbelt. Jonny wanted to speak but hesitated, so she didn't get out immediately.
"Aren't you afraid Dylan will make things difficult for you when he wakes up?" Elsa awkwardly tried to make conversation.
"It's fine. Wind is in jail and won't be out for a while. Dylan's health is poor. In the end, the Jones family will be mine," Jonny said confidently.
Elsa nodded, feeling slightly relieved.
"But seriously." Jonny looked at Elsa intently, his eyes heavy with emotion. "Now that you're divorced, do I still have a chance?"
"Jonny, I'm sorry," Elsa said. She hadn't promised him, so she didn't feel guilty. But in this situation, she had to show some remorse and lowered her head. "I've always seen you as a mentor and friend, you know that."
Jonny sighed.
"Give me one last hug. I promise I'll only see you as a friend from now on," he said.
Elsa nodded, reaching out to hug Jonny with a big smile. "Jonny, be happy."
Jonny said nothing, hugging her tightly in return.
At that moment, a car parked not far away suddenly turned on its high beams and sped towards them, crashing into the front bumper of Jonny's car.
"Fuck, what a lunatic," Jonny exclaimed, yanking open the car door.
Elsa got out too, realizing it was Luke's car. It had been parked there all along, but she hadn't noticed.
She watched as Luke got out from the back seat furiously, while Max looked helpless.
"Long time no see," Elsa greeted him politely, feeling a bit guilty after receiving Luke's help and being caught hugging Jonny.
