Chapter 257 Jasmine's Engagement

"You didn't dodge Jasmine?"

Max's face still had visible marks, and there was even a faint scratch near his ear.

Luke's expression darkened. Jasmine had gone too far. If Max hadn't intervened, Elsa would be the one suffered.

With a cold face, he dialed Terry's number.

"Are you still planning to get engaged to Jasmine?"

Terrywas taken aback by the question.

"I've always been willing. It's Jasmine who's been delaying."

Terry knew Jasmine didn't have feelings for him, but marrying Jasmine was just for the Taylor family.

"Then get ready for the engagement party in three days," Luke said expressionlessly.

"Did she bully Elsa again?" Terry knew that Luke wouldn't normally have time to deal with Jasmine at this stage. If he did, it must be because Jasmine had targeted Elsa.

"Yes."

Luke hung up and turned to look at Max's pitifully red face. "Your year-end bonus will be doubled."

Max's year-end bonus had been increasing annually, now exceeding seven figures. There was no better deal in the world.

"I feel like letting Ms. Taylor slap me again." he joked, covering his face, his anger dissipated.

"This money isn't just because you protected Elsa today." Speaking of Elsa, Luke's expression softened.

Luke asked, "How does she look?"

"She looked quite healthy," Max reported truthfully.

Luke nodded slightly. Once Jasmine's engagement was settled, he had some plans of his own.

The Taylor family and the Clark family were both prestigious, so the engagement party was naturally grand.

Even though Jasmine drank the toast and exchanged rings with Terry in front of the guests, she couldn't muster a smile.

Luke had given her an ultimatum--if she didn't get engaged to the Clark family, she would have to continue her studies in Novaria and wouldn't be allowed back for five years.

Jasmine didn't want to go back. With Aaron and Holly favoring Terry and pushing her, she had no choice but to comply.

After all, it was just an engagement.

"You know I don't like you, yet you still want to marry me. What's your motive?" Jasmine glared at Terry when no one was around.

Terry had long been mentally prepared and smiled faintly. "How many marry for love in our family? After marriage, we can sleep in separate rooms. I don't mind. But if Ms. Taylor dares to do anything that damages the reputation of two families, don't blame me for being intolerant."

Jasmine naturally wouldn't back down after being mocked by Terry. "Terry, I can agree to this engagement, but if one day I'm with my true love, I hope you'll leave gracefully."

Terry seemed to hear the funniest thing in the world and squinted his eyes. "In the past, you tried everything and still couldn't win Jonny's heart. What makes you think you can in the future?"

Jonny was Jasmine's Achilles' heel; anyone who mentioned him would inevitably incur her wrath.

"That's my business!" Jasmine's face immediately turned red.

Terry looked at Jasmine's beautiful yet empty face and sighed deeply.

If his longtime friend Luke could spare even one percent of his intelligence for Jasmine, she wouldn't be like this.

The Taylor family knew that Terry marrying Jasmine was just for business benefits. Besides Terry, there was no better candidate in Maplewood City. They aimed for a strong alliance.

Terry didn't care if Jasmine had feelings for him. He thought that using marriage to solidify his power was also good.

However, Luke meeting Elsa wasn't necessarily a good thing, as Elsa was too troublesome and demanding.

Elsa soon learned about the engagement from a video Chloe sent her.
