Chapter 280 Meeting Luke Again
That was true.
Elsa slumped. "What should I do? I need money."
"I can lend it to you." To Jonathan, $57 million was about the same as $5,700.
"No need, if you have any good projects, please include me." Elsa quickly said.
"I recently invested in a production line. Wait a few days, and I'll contact you." Jonathan thought for a moment and surprisingly agreed.
After failing to get the assistant job with Leo, Elsa didn't dare to waste any time. She downloaded a few job-hunting apps and continued to send out resumes.
Her education was a barrier. The jobs that wanted her were mostly car models, print models, and cyber models, which required showing off her looks. Jobs related to design usually rejected her due to her education.
She met Luke again when she was called to a café for an interview. The interviewer had a pair of eyes filled with ill intentions.
He spat as he patted his chest and assured Elsa, "We are a very legitimate dating platform. As long as you join us and register as a member, you'll get a $500 commission for each offline meeting. The pretty girls here easily make over $10,000 a month. Buying cars and houses is no problem."
Elsa's mouth twitched. "So, this job is a dating scammer?"
She didn't know what the interviewer whould think if he knew she had just paid off a building for Luke.
She politely declined several times, but the interviewer showed no intention of leaving.
"My husband got bitten by a dog? Okay, take him to the hospital first, and I'll be right there." Just then, Chloe called to ask if Elsa wanted to have dinner together that night. She quickly grabbed her bag and got up to leave.
"Honey, that was a scam call. I'm sitting right here." A voice said from behind. Elsa turned around sharply to see Luke with a cold expression and Karida laughing so hard her shoulders shook.
"You're my ex-husband. I was talking about my current husband." Elsa lied with a straight face.
"Didn't you just get out of prison a little over a week ago? Did you remarry so soon?" Luke hit her sore spot and maliciously added to the interviewer, "She scammed a man out of over $60 million and just got released."
The interviewer left with a complicated expression.
"Elsa, do you need to resort to being a dating scammer?" Luke leaned close to her, frowning in disapproval.
"I may not be good at much else, but I'm excellent at scamming men out of money. This job suits me." Elsa was annoyed that Luke saw her in such a miserable state, but her expression showed no embarrassment.
"You get $500 for having a meal with a man. But I'll give you $5,000 if you have a meal with me." He leaned in and whispered in her ear, making her step back from the tickle.
"You're so boring. I want to seek novelty." Elsa was stubborn.
"If I'm so boring, how come you cry and beg for mercy every time we have sex? If I were any more interesting, you'd probably die from pleasure." Luke's voice was low, so only Elsa could hear. She blushed instantly.
"Shameless!" She spat at him softly, grabbed her bag, and fled.
Luke stood there, unable to stop laughing.
What they didn't know was that Leo happened to be in the same café.
