Chapter 132 Spend a Lifetime

The three-hour play finally wrapped up, and Elsa and Luke stepped out with time to burn.

Luke slipped his hand into his coat pocket, grabbing Elsa's. "Hey, let's not head back yet. How about a stroll around here?"

Elsa, still lost in the play's magic, let Luke guide her without a word.

They wandered into a big bookstore nearby. Luke picked out a few dry design books he knew Elsa would dig.

"Want anything else?" he asked.

"A poetry collection," Elsa said out of nowhere.

Maybe it was the play, Luke noticed Elsa seemed more sentimental today. Her usual cool demeanor had softened, and it made his heart skip a beat.

"I used to love flipping through poetry collections to find answers," Elsa said, grabbing a book and leafing through it.

"Answers?"

"Yeah, like before I went abroad as an exchange student, I flipped to a poem that said, 'You stand on the bridge watching the scenery, while the people watching the scenery are upstairs watching you.'"

Back then, Elsa thought fate was nudging her to explore the world, but she ended up missing her last chance to see Leslie.

Luke's expression grew somber as he grasped the deeper significance. In an effort to lift Elsa's spirits, he gently took the poetry book from her hands.

"Then I want to ask too," Luke said, flipping through the pages.

"I want to do with you what spring does with the cherry trees," he read, then looked at Elsa with a playful grin.

Elsa's cheeks turned bright red. "Pervert," she muttered, giving him a playful shove.

Luke laughed and pulled her into a hug.

They bought a bunch of books and then chilled at a nearby café.

'This moment would be perfect if Luke hadn't swapped my espresso for a latte,' Elsa thought, watching him pull out a velvet box. Inside was a pair of matching necklaces.

The design stemmed from Elsa's first competition: an oak tree and a kapok tree.

Luke had replaced the gemstones with high-clarity blue and pink diamonds, making them worth a fortune.

"Lower your head," Luke said with a smile.

Elsa obediently lowered her head, feeling the cool touch of the pink diamond kapok necklace on her chest.

"Put this on me," Luke said, handing her the blue diamond oak necklace.

"Okay," Elsa replied, almost in a trance, as she leaned over to fasten the necklace around his neck.

In that moment, even the iciest heart would melt. Elsa felt a bit breathless, her heart racing.

"From now on, stick with me and let's spend the rest of our lives together," Luke declared.

Elsa felt like she was on cloud nine. When Luke expressed his desire to share their lives together, it struck a chord with her. Her parents hadn't been able to achieve that. Tears welled up in her eyes.

'If I can spend my life with Luke, that would be really nice,' she thought, feeling dazed.

Just then, Luke's phone rang, breaking the moment. He didn't answer, just kept staring at Elsa.

The phone rang again and again until he finally picked up. "Hello, Margaret?"
