Chapter 193 Luke Preparing for Pregnancy

Margaret stormed out of the house, absolutely livid.

When she called Karen back, her tone was sharp and biting.

Karen, needing a favor, swallowed her pride and explained, "There's this prefab building used by a medical base up North, a long-time partner of the Collins family. The Miller family wants Joe to help mediate."

"Karen, why should I help you?" Margaret snapped, frowning.

Karen got anxious. "Ms. Collins, we're partners now. If the Miller family goes down, winning Luke's heart will be even tougher for you."

"Are you threatening me?!" Margaret was furious.

Karen didn't want to waste more time. "Margaret, you better give me an answer soon. If you keep delaying, I can't promise Luke won't find out something. Plus, it seems you're not all that trustworthy in Luke's eyes anymore, are you?”

"You dare!" Margaret screeched.

"What do I have to be afraid of? At worst, we'll go down together!" Karen said and hung up.

No, the Miller family was capable of anything. She was already in a trust crisis with the Taylor family. If her collaboration with the Miller family got exposed now, it would ruin her. She needed to stabilize the Miller family.

Margaret took a deep breath and thought it through. She still needed to persuade Joe to cooperate with the Miller family.

Lost in thought, her phone rang again. It was Terry.

"Tonight, come to Tranquil Haven Hotel."

Margaret had been thinking of asking Terry to mediate between her, Luke, and Debbie. She quickly composed herself and said with a smile, "Sure, Terry, I was just thinking about you."

Elsa spent the whole afternoon in Lily's office.

Luke smoked a cigarette while waiting on the bench outside, silently reading messages from Max.

In the parking lot footage, he saw Elsa take a box from David and then enter the elevator.

In front of David, she seemed invincible, without any flaws. Only Luke knew the torment she endured in private.

"Give Phyllis a little trouble. It seems David's been too comfortable," Luke ordered coldly, and after getting a response, he silently put his phone back in his pocket.

"Ever since you got involved with Elsa, you've been coming to the hospital a lot more," Karida said, finishing her work and coming over to join him.

Karida sat down next to Luke, wrinkling her nose at the smell of his cigarette. "No smoking here."

"Got it," Luke replied, but kept smoking.

Karida was speechless. "If you don't quit smoking, and she has to take antidepressants, having a child now isn't a good idea."

After Karida spoke, Luke immediately stubbed out his cigarette.

"Are you serious?" Karida was surprised. Turns out Luke wasn't as stubborn as he seemed. The past attempts to persuade him had failed because the right method wasn't used.

"Do I look like I'm joking?" Luke glanced at him, his tone unusually sincere. "In a few days, when she's feeling better, prescribe some medication. We are indeed trying for a baby."

"I don't think Elsa is ready to be a mother."

Karida was stating a fact. In her current state, no one could associate Elsa with a child. She seemed more like an invincible warrior than a prospective mother.

"This isn't up to her," Luke said, playing with the stubbed-out cigarette, his voice low.

He lowered his eyes, making it hard for Karida to read his emotions. "If we don't have a child soon, I'm afraid I won't be able to keep her."
